A system should come with other things like quests, a shop, and the growth management of multiple abilities. Not to mention that the one singular ability is completely nerfed and useless, the only reason it manages to play a role later is due to plot. Realistically the MC would use it to view the next few seconds and find out that nothing significant happens, wait 3 days for next attempt. At the very least a Prophecy system should contain multiple abilities all related to prophecy that the user can pick and choose its growth direction by spending fate points to unlock new abilities and/or upgrade old ones. There are tons of different prophetic abilities that I can think of, for example: Future Sight: Uses soul energy while active, allows you to super-impose your vision with a transparent view of what happens in the next second or two ahead of time. Keep active during a fight to basically get a real time head start on the enemy you are fighting. Upgrade this skill to reduce the mental cost of maintaining it. Danger Sense: Passive ability that is always active. Taps into the future timestream and alerts you when your immediate future contains danger. Upgrade this skill to increase the time at which danger is sensed. Prophecy: Use this on a person, place, thing, or abstract idea. Costs mental energy related to the importance of the event (can cause soul damage and /or death if the cost is too high). Danger sense can help the user determine how dangerous a prophecy will be. This will find an event related to the target in the near future that has a significant impact and return you random visions related to the event. Images show a lot but also can be misinterpreted, possibly even becoming self fulfilling prophecies as a result. Upgrade this to improve the images seen and how well events are understood.
