He opened his eyes, and in one quick motion he raised his hand to the sky and clenched it into a fist, causing the pile of corpses to explode. Blood and guts spewed everywhere, covering the pair in their grime and viscera. The woman, looking rather annoyed, snapped her fingers and was clean. The man, however, still seemed to lack the capability to do so. "Much better," he said as he prepared to resume his summoning.

The woman broke into a wary smile, "Then remember the view and try to create everything it consisted of. Remember the landscape as one big mass, not as individual parts. Remember the cliff we stood on. Remember what you enjoyed looking at."

"Anything, anything at all." The woman spun and moved rhythmically, continuing now in a kind of singsong, "The Sun, the moon, the stars above. The night itself, or a dawn of love. A grain of sand amongst the grass or an ocean in the sky. A mass of moss, a crack of rock, or a simple bit of ply. Anything at all will do, O Keeper, anything at all will do." With a small spin she finished her monologue as the man stood dumbfounded with his mouth agape and his brow furrowed.

The man's worry changed, his eyes now reflecting a sort of ferocity not yet seen of his character, "Can I devour the souls of other Keepers?"

"I do not know. I will cease to exist, whatever that may entail. Perhaps there are Keepers that rule over the Keepers, or perhaps there is nothing. We cannot know, for it is knowledge that transcends our very beings." The woman stood up from her cushion, "You, however, do not need to worry about a natural end just yet." She reached her hand out to the man, who grasped it, "But you must learn about a premature end." She pulled him up and brought him into a tight embrace, "The total destruction of your universe."

In what capacity could one wield such power, the man asked himself. For to be so absolute is to become infallible, any and all errors to be corrected at a later date. Yet, for the man, this was the one thing that demonstrated his destiny as Keeper. Yes, he could fly amongst the wind, manifest wondrous landscapes from nothingness, alter living beings while they walked, and create life itself, yet, with all those things there is an end, presumably should the man die, either in a natural end, as his predecessor intended to do, or if another Keeper were to choose to devour him or his universe. Dominion over death is domination of fate, and all things that tie the world together. This, he thought, is what truly makes him God, master, ruler – Keeper of the Universe.
