Lyra opened her eyes slowly, her vision hazy. Her head was throbbing, and so were her wounds. Nothing around her smelled familiar, and nothing sounded like home. She tried to move, but found that her wrists were bound, and so were her ankles. Knowing this, realization started to set in. As she allowed her eyes to adjust, she looked around. She was tied to a wooden pole as it supported a tent, the ropes so tight that they burned her skin so much that they were bleeding. She tried to break free, but her broken arm caused her to wince from the pain. She could hear people celebrating what she could only assume was the raid on her people. She scoffed, knowing she had to escape. She couldn't put her baby at risk, and she knew that. She also knew that Orion was probably on a warpath, which she wanted to avoid. Yet the more she tried to escape, the more she hurt herself. They had bandaged her broken arm, but poorly. It was clear that her captors only saw her as a prize, which bothered her. She had heard of aggressive tribes raiding camps before. Stealing livestock and goods, burning down buildings, killing men and children, and raping the women. In her mind, she prayed that her people were okay. For some reason, she didn't care about her own safety. She didn't understand why, but she knew that it was because she had already lost enough people in her life. She knew that her situation wasn't great, but she hardly Suddenly there was the sound of someone walking towards the tent, and Lyra froze. The man that entered had the exact same clothing as the leader of the raid did. Yet the sadistic look in his eyes told her she was in danger.

this is such an important lesson many people never seem to learn.

"Everyone makes mistakes. It's about how you own up to those mistakes that either make you a man or a monster. There will be times that you break down and fall apart, but you have to climb back out of the pit to make it in this world. I am confident you will do whatever it takes to stay on top." Orion embraced his mother, feeling better about the situation.

orange power then powder, which is it? i thought maybe fire by power now uncertain

Orion cautiously tugged on Raideth's reins, slowly leading his Haroc to the grove. There sat the burning, pestilence ridden corpse of a Hihare. The body was covered with burns and blisters, its eyes burned out. Orion knelt and touched the light orange power that covered the Hihare, instantly falling back. The power stung his fingers horribly, causing him to quickly grab his canteen side to drench the burn. He winced as the cool water stung against the already blistering burn. Calming himself, he stood up slowly. The burn was beyond painful, the powder so irradiated that the rest of Orion's hand instantly began to blister as well. He quickly rushed to his saddle bag, using the bandages within to cover his wound. The throbbing pain was distracting, but he knew he couldn't let it get to him.
