Ahhh thank you for such a sweet comment! I love seeing Grace and Dezzy together again I miss them so much haha. I'm glad you like them too. Damien is definitely still in trouble, and they for sure need a plan, lollll. Especially with Cain still in recovery at this stage. As for writing advice, I am kind of a "plantser" sort of writer. What I mean by that is I tend to be a planner (someone who has the story thought through) but also a pantser (someone who just writes 'by the seat of their pants', no plan, just writing something and seeing where it goes). I've found for myself that if I plan a story too much it feels like I already wrote it, and I can lose the motivation to finish it. But if I don't have anything planned at all, then I often get stuck trying to figure out where I'm going (the problem I had with this last arc was that I didn't have a solid enough idea of the trajectory from bonding --> next arc, hence why writing it took longer). For this story in particular, it started as bit of a joke to myself. Webnovel had a contest for the concept of "Enemies to Lovers", and one of the promts was "the vampire that killed the werewolf's family is the werewolf's fated mate" and I thought that sounded like a fun prompt to write. I then tried to think about how the characters would meet, how that would be revealed, and brainstormed the first arc: "Vampire is injured, Werewolf imprints, Vampire returns to the castle, Werewolf gets mate-sick, and is forced to go to the castle, is treated poorly by the vampire, eventually they're somehow forced to bond" I didn't have much of the worldbuilding in there except I knew i wanted a moon goddess because I wanted to play around with some of the werewolf tropes. I built onto the worldbuilding more after writing the first chapter or two and realized I wanted to have Old Gods and a New Pantheon. At that point i decided which creatures would populate this fantasy world (many of which we haven't even encountered lol) and which god would be their patron. Then, when Damien was traveling I needed Cain to do something, and I needed to establish his humanity a bit more, so I added the Thomas arc as a way to explain how bonds work with vampires, and how they're different from werewolf bonds, and the dangers associated with vampire bonds and trying to break those bonds. That's because basically from chapter 1 i decided that if this vampire killed the werewolf's family and there was any chance of redemption, it had to be a case where the vampire was forced into it. And then from there it was easy to see that the vampire's motivation had to be freedom from the sire's bond. Both Damien and Cain want to be free from their respective bonds. Of course Damien ends up bonded to Cain, and Cain finds himself now bound to a SECOND figure, which is something he instinctively resists. He doesn't want to be beholden to anyone, that's a key part of his character. his rebellion by insisting to support the human thralls rather than standing with other vampires is also a key aspect of his personality that I thought would make him more sympathetic to Damien once the reality of Cain's situation became more clear. Then I had to make a love rival, so I brought in Johann for some complications. He was also there to introduce the idea that being a thrall involves another, third sort of bond that can feel almost like an addiction. Basically I have a few bullet points I try to hit in my plan that will eventually reach the conclusion, and I have an idea of what the ending of the story will be (slightly more detailed than 'they lived happily ever after', but not by much). Beyond that, I tend to develop the details and secondary elements as they're needed. This isn't how everyone writes, and it does mean that writing plot twists or character revelations can be harder. But it works best for me. Hope this helps! Good luck!

haha i am in no position to judge putting off reading since I've needed a few breaks from writing between work and other life inconveniences. I'm just glad you got here eventually! I'm glad you liked them, I really was excited for these chapters, too!! I haven't written horror proper, but I dabble in a lot of angst and whump in the fanfiction and other original fiction stories I have written. as far as the theory, if you want to know I can confirm or deny if you want, or you can keep speculating 🤔 I will say that you are very close!! but that this bond is due to a very unique circumstance with particular conditions that very few vampires would be able to meet. I don't know if that helps or makes it worse, but I love seeing your thoughts, it helps me know how much to explain when we do finally get to that point! (it will be part of the story arc after the next, so maybe around chapter 75 if all goes to plan? we shall see)

ahhh iIlove this comment so much, sorry I didn't reply sooner I completely agree that things moved slow, and i am really hoping to pick up the pace again soon!! it was getting on my nerves that they weren't sorting their ahot out to be honest 🤣🤣🤣 I really appreciate all the thought you put into my world building!! there is a reason why Cain specifically is able to accept a reciprocal soul bond despite being a vampire, and it is something hinted at in the story, but the characters themselves will probably not learn the truth until they meet someone who knows more about bonds and vampires than they do, especially considering how young Cain is for a vampire. I'm happy to answer if you DO have any burning questions, though, because I appreciate the curiosity and don't want to make you suffer for too long 😅

ahhh thank you for the lovely comment! yes, I am also glad they're finally starting to get along. I think once Damien started to understand Cain a little better, he couldn't stop the empathy, even knowing how he was hurt. I have hope for them in future chapters 🥺
