At the beginning of the novel I started writing it like a reflection on his journey but that style of writing wasn't working for me so I changed it later in the novel. So to answer your question, he learns it in the future.

No it said he didn't see anyone but he couldn't see the entire town so he couldn't be sure that no one was inside the town. Besides humans are social creatures so after experiencing a strange, almost traumatic experience and waking up seeing no one around, none of his friends, he would want to know what was going on or get some additional information and who better to ask than someone who probably woke up before him.
I didn't know how long I was unconcious for but when I woke up all the people around me were gone and the door was completely destroyed. The air wasn't filled with black mist anymore but it was hanging low to the ground looking almost depleted. Getting up I looked around but the place was devoid of people as far as the eye can see. I still don't know what compelled me back then but I went to the kitchen I took a knife with me before leaving the cafe. Walking down the street the place looked like a ghost town with no one on the streets and everything was abondoned and the low hanging mist just added to the gloomy atmosphere making me clutch my knife even harder.

That depends what you consider decently strong. As you read through the story you will realize that not many people actually 'survived' their encounter with Demon miasma and become undeads.

He didn't see any and he just killed a guy and no matter how calm and collected he might seem he was still a bit in shock and confused after being attacked by someone and killing them.
I ran as long as I could and eventually I was able to escape and hide. I knew I would eventually be discovered so I had to make the difficult choice of killing them before they could kill me. I decided that it was best I separate and kill them one by one and judging by their apparent lack of intelligence that shouldn't be too hard. Now the only problem I had is to find a way to kill them quickly and from experience stabbing them in the chest didn't work but hitting them in the head with a blunt object seemed to work so I wondered if stabbing them with a sharp one would work...I guess I was gonna find out. Searching the room I found three maybe four scalpels I don't really remember but I took them for extra protection. Walking out of my hiding place I searched for my hunters and it didn't take long for me to find one of them standing in the corridor. She was sniffing around as if trying to catch my scent but I doubted she could smell anything except rotting flesh. Thinking fast I took a coin from my pocket and braced myself for what I was about to do.

Please note that skills and traits are two different things. Skills are gained and upgraded through evolution. Traits on the other had can be earned by having epiphanies of sorts and manipulating their demonic energy in different and ingenious ways. Most traits are easy to earn while others are really, really hard.

Searching the place I found a bag, a few guns, a machete, ammo and something I didn't know I wanted until I saw it a computer. I loaded two handguns and all the hand gun ammo I could find into the bag while I kept the machete in my hand. I walked over to the computer and sit in the chair and then I went onto the internet. That's how I found out that K town wasn't the only place that experienced the weird phenomenon with the Demon Miasma but not everywhere experienced it although the entire world was affected. On every continent atleast one city or town experienced the phenomenon everyone was calling the 'Zombification'.
