Although neither Audrey nor Alger showed too much emotion, Max knew almost exactly what they were feeling. Of all the characters in the novel, Max felt like he knew Alger, Audrey, Mr. Azik Eggars, Klein, and Derrick Berg the best. There were also others, but these were the people whom he recalled the most. After all, it was not like he obsessively reread the novel multiple times over and recalled every single detail of it.
