70 40 20 12=144144x8=1,152you have 488 extra participants without factoring me in the Central district.
Each Mystic Domain selected their best Seventy 1st Circle Mages, Forty 2nd Circle Mages, twenty 3rd Circle Mages, and twelve 4th Circle Mages, the rest of the Mages came from the Central City, which mostly consisted of Mages from the Vesta Family. Most of the other families in the Central District usually sent their children to other domains to participate in the tournament from their side, avoiding the Vesta Mages at the start.

here would be a good opportunity to tell her something like, "it's easier to defend than to attack, that's why you're tired and I'm not. You've been doing all the work. That's why it's lazy to not win every battle you go into in fear of harming your opponent. You're simply avoiding the hard work of victory"
"How are you not tired at all…?"

I remember a Star Trek NG episode where Captain Picard, during an emergency, experienced a transporter malfunction causing him to have the body of his 12-year-old self while his mind and actions remain the same as his character.

it was a yellow potion in chapter 21 "Luck"
"Master Heinz, may I know what potion it is this time?" Kyle asked as he looked at the deep purple potion that was already on the table.

rent-a-minion!!! I can't quit laughing!
"These are my minions, ordered from Rent-a-minion! Each one of them will teach you how to defend against a certain kind of attack, and then attack you! The only way to stop is to successfully block the attack! Otherwise they will not stop unless you pass out! So you better pay attention and do your best!"

actually after reading, I think this is the better sequence. step 3 as step one, locking the opponent in place and removing all defence, step 2, myriad sword cuts bleeding the opponent out, step one as step 3, finishing move a single massive sword strike that can split mountains.
Hypothetically, if he could limit the effects of the 3rd step, spatial collapse, and use it to restrain the target in a locked space, it would immensely benefit the 1st and 2nd steps.

There was already a technique that was an improvement of his existing technique. So why would he choose a technique that is only going to improve his existing technique? I don't think this was thought through very carefully.

Of course he'll go with the one that only improves his existing technique rather than the one that is already an improvement of his existing technique.
'One is the improved version of my Dark vortex technique, it is an orthodox technique and I should become used to it quite quickly. The other two are the unorthodox ones.'

At least Gramps seems to know a little bit of something about what's going on with him. Does Gramps actually have a system of his own???
