I do wonder, if somehow he WAS put into an actual situation where he had to choose between giving up Dona and Yuri or continuing his goal of reaching the peak of power, which would he choose? Does he care about them that much to give up everything for them or is his main goal more important?

The story uses the word smirked too frequently, there’s other words or phrases to describe someone who’s smiling. I’ve unironically seen the word smirked more times in the past 10 chapters than i’ve seen in the entire rest of my life. Still good story but just something i’ve noticed.
