In bother Fanfic I once read something interesting. Slytherin didn’t support „Blood purity“, all he was about is the stupidity of muggle borns. He said that their education takes way longer because the teachers would first need to teach them how to read and write and the language that is being spoken (english). That is why he didn’t want muggle borns at Hogwarts. This misconception about his teachings and beliefs resulted in that whole „Blood Purity“ stuff.
