I am not a fan of the MC gaining godly powers. The novel was best at the point where the MC wasn´t that powerful at all and had to deal with all sorts of dangers, situations and characters to survive in a dangerous world full with adventure. The meetings were a bit boring and could have been skipped more. The story-telling, world setting and alot of the characters are great. The switch of setting and roles adds also spice and keep things interesting. In general this is one of the best webnovels I have read and one of the few that got me really exited to read the next chapter - but there is room for improvement. In my opinion it would have been better to start a new story without all the ranking/"leveling up" but with a similar/the same setting - so like harry potter but with this setting and an more brutal world for adults. The 18./19.- century-setting, following the demise of our modern society, in combination with mysteries and otherworldly stuff, outside the standard spell/magic-setting from fantasy-novels, was actually great. So 5/5 stars for the world background. There are other novels, printed books, with similar settings, that hat less depth (might me the number of pages though....). Regarding the story: I feel alot of build-up, world-building etc. was wasted in the end with the story itself falling behind. The whole end felt rushed and unfinished. The writing, design etc. was great- but it missed perfection. Still absolutely worth a read. Like I said, one of the best web-/online-novels out there :)

I really don´t get the high rating of this novel. It gets nowhere close to Shadow Slave etc. There is no real character development or real story. You could read the first and last 50 pages and skip everything in between - you wouldn´t miss much. The MC is constantly OP- no matter what he does. Neither he nor any other characters have a real personality- other characters pop up and vanish as meaningless followers with emotions, intelligence and personalities of NPCs, meaning: none. The mother of his child has no meaning at all - at best she gets something from him. Same with his son- he is basically just the extension of the MC- to further show how OP the MC is, with his son also being OP, running around, using skills and talking right after birth.....riiiiiiight. The whole novel is based on leveling and rankings- with pretty much nothing behind it. AIs could create stories with more depth, emotions and excitement.... The whole setting is shallow at best. The character basically moves from bubble to bubble. He always meets characters a few ranks above him, dominates them, moves into the next bubble with some characters a few ranks above him, dominates them etc.- this goes on and on. Rinse and repeat or copy-paste. What happened to weak people with stories or characters far above him ? No matter what- the MC can do everything and is always the best- in everything. It feels silly, boring and like a waste of time. He just goes around spreading death to level up, no emotions, no challenges, no danger, no goals (other than leveling for no reason whatsoever). As if that isn´t enough- the little bit of character design that was done is also flawed. For example: the MC experienced how the water planet was destroyed- pretty much all living beings as well as the core with its own life got massacred. All the innocent people go down screaming, to their death- with the survivors in pain. Without any emotional involvement in the genocide whatsoever the MC goes after the culprits- why ? He befriends one- with no morale struggle. Afterwards he recruits her and seemingly instantly forgets what she did - slaughtering millions of innocent people....She was supposed to make up for her killing people - but just gets turned into his fallower, to kill more people.... With that lack of morale- why go after the culprits in the first place ? These are btw the only few pages with something resembling personalities, emotions etc.- so thousands of pages without even that... ;) Later the MC has zero problems destroying whole universes filled with innocents just to further level up- what is he even getting stronger for ? .. the destruction of all those lifes isn´t even a topic anymore when it is him doing it. really ??? I can´t take this novel seriously and it is the first I dropped after a long time. The writing itself is not bad- but everything else is. In general it is one of the worst novels I have read in a long time- if not ever. In my opinion the author should have ended the novel a long time ago and learned from it. Instead of improving the novel got worse over time with it getting even more focused on leveling up and everything else losing even the last bit of meaning- just serving as fillers in between [Upgrade]-notices.... Even real grinding of levels in games is more entertaining. So... to the readers: do not waste your time with this. To the author: improve and tell stories instead of spamming upgrade messages...

This novel is really well written and one of the best, if not THE best webnovel/online-novel currently out there. The Character Designs and World Building are great. The characters have different and interesting personalities. They change with the progress of the story and developments. The world is well build and makes it possible to sink into it. The Story Development is also good. Sadly I had to lower the rating for the story from 5 to 4 stars thanks to the ending of arc 2 (?) - the ending of the antarctic campaign felt like a brainf*rt from the author. It didn´t make any sense at all and destroyed alot of the build-up. The quality/logic-drop felt especially frustrating since the quality of the chapters released is in general very high- unlike most other novels published online this novel doesn´t need to shy away from a comparison to offline-books of well known authors. I just wish the author of Shadow Slave would rewrite that particular part- with the publication being online he has the unique chance to do so..... I have read the novel and I will continue reading it. I also reread huge parts- which says alot. I read alot - like (tens of) thousands of pages of novels every year and the books I reread, so far, have all been from famous authors like Rowling, Cornwell, Brown etc. Found the novel online and just registered here on the original (?) website to comment. Other comments with low ratings for this novel leave a bad taste in my mouth- especially with alot of other online-novels getting high ratings even though the writing is bad. I don´t get it at all. You can have a different taste, but you should be able to recognize great work. I get that Shadow Slave is written for online publication- but I can´t help feeling that it is a waste. I would have prefered to buy the hardcover-books in the store and add it to my collection. Big brainf*rts might also have been avoided with less pressure to publish new "chapters" every day, the money might have been better and the criticism more professional and just.....
