shifted wolves are bigger than normal wolves, but they're still not capable of carrying full grown humans on their back for any significant time period. it's also physics on body movement - their flexible spines help them with their speed. carrying a large load on their back will reduce their spines range of motion, reducing their efficiency. unlike load-bearing beasts, wolves are a poor choice of ride! It's a cute thought or makes for a great picture, but isn't logistically a possibility. (Great question!)

don't forget they were running in human form for soooo long. And it probably wasn't crazy clear, but Ava was running much faster than a human, but not faster than her wolf friends. so anyone in full speed pursuit would have been able to catch up. Anyway, with pack linking, wolves could have been anywhere in their territory when they got the news. 馃檪 telepathy is a pain...
