Here's a suggestion from one writer to another, I commonly write my stories on Google Docs, while at first it may seem strange but it is actually a great place to store your ideas and your upcoming chapters; They can easily be pasted into Webnovel and don't require files and instantly save what you have wrote, this is what I use for mine so if your worried about losing your work in files I would say give Docs a try if your willing to.

If he were to have that it would ruin the point of the main plot and would just be chaos, its for the sake of having a protagonist make their own story rather than seeing it be pre-set, of course I see and acknowledge your point but this is just my opinion,
