Chapter 5 was really interesting to me, especially the way the Demon King treated Nirile. The way he gently took her from the bed, reassured her that everything was okay, held her close and carried her to the bathtub showed a completely different side of him. What stood out to me most was that he understood she needed some privacy while bathing and actually respected that boundary. That small gesture says a lot about his character. Honestly, I’m beginning to think the Demon King is not just looking for a slave but for a true partner—someone who can become the queen of his kingdom. Maybe that’s why he seems so concerned about her comfort and appearance. It feels like he wants her to see herself differently and perhaps prepare her for a completely new life. And Alma also caught my attention. I feel like she might actually be a kind and trustworthy servant, especially with the way she helped Nirile get prepared. I’m curious to see how her relationship with Nirile develops too. There’s definitely more to the Demon King than what Nirile initially expected, and I’m enjoying discovering that side of him along with her.

This chapter really got me thinking about Nirile’s situation. It’s painful that she has reached a point where being sold to someone kind feels safer than hoping for freedom. I guess, from her perspective, she felt safer with the possibility of having a good master than remaining at the mercy of a Supreme Being where slaves are treated as food and used for pleasure. Even being locked up in that stuffy room filled with other slaves must have made being sold feel like a form of freedom to her. And I think the Demon King’s first gesture towards her played a big part in making her feel somewhat safe. The fact that he bought her, placed her on his bed and actually knelt down to ask how she was feeling must have left her confused. I mean, with everything she had heard and probably imagined about a Demon King, why would someone like him kneel before her and genuinely care about how she felt? I also have a feeling that the Demon King himself might have been looking for someone—a companion or perhaps someone he could love. Even though Nirile was still confused and had so many questions running through her mind, his words and the way he treated her probably gave her a little assurance that she wasn't in immediate danger. For someone who had just escaped such a horrible situation, that little feeling of safety could mean everything. I'm really curious to see how their relationship develops and whether her trust in him will eventually prove justified.
