Hidden Sea Flower had some problems that were criticized by the audience, but it couldn't be simply defined as a " bad film." From the feedback of some viewers, many netizens abandoned the series after only four episodes. The reasons for the bad reviews were mainly because the plot was dragged out, the casting was not harmonious, and the special effects were rough. For example, in the casting, Zhang Luyi played Wu Xie. The 44-year-old age difference was inconsistent with the young and promising image of Wu Xie in the original work. Zhang Qiling's actor was also thought by some audiences to be inconsistent with their expectations. In terms of production, special effects and clothing were perfunctory, affecting the audience's experience of watching the drama. However, there were also some viewers who thought that the plot was wonderful, such as the suspense elements in the plot, the presentation of the original plot, etc., the tension and excitement of the underground palace plot like a secret room escape, and the restoration of the original plot such as " King of Hell riding a corpse ". Therefore, whether or not it was a " bad film " was a relatively subjective judgment. It depended on the audience's personal balance of the plot, performance, production, and many other factors.
