He forced his eyes open, the dim glow of a nearby streetlight illuminating the substance pooling by his face. It wasn’t red. Blue. A deep, rich blue, glistening under the light like liquid sapphire. Kevin’s breath hitched. His trembling fingers reached out, touching the unnatural blood oozing from his lips. It was real. Something inside him stirred. A realization. A possibility. Maybe… just maybe… He could become a hero.
