This review is given as of chapter 56 (last chapter updated before the novel went on a hiatus). Writing quality: Sound grammar and clear writing. This author helps to edit for other novels too so you can be sure her language is on point. Updating stability: It's not stable for now as this author is taking a break from writing this story to focus on her other story "Olivia Sparks" which an awesome story I assure you! Go and read it if you have not. So let's be patient for the author to resume writing this story. Story development: Unlike usual novels, this novel doesn't start off with a female/male lead and then introduce us to more characters along the way. When you read the first chapter, you are introduced to a group of unnamed characters which adds to the mystery and the setting was sometime in the future. Then in subsequent chapters, the story returns to what I call the 'main timeline' which is back in the past. The pace might be slow in the first few chapters but that's because the author is trying to flesh out her group of characters known as Hilltop Friends and their families. She spends time to introduce each character to us, giving us a glimpse into the lives and personality of her characters. As the setting of the Hilltop Friends takes place when they were still in High School, expect teenage drama - love, jealousy, acceptance, sexuality, recognition, etc which some of us could relate to. Not to worry, there are mature issues as well - conspiracies and mysteries, politics, etc. Character design: There are many characters in this novel and I think the author did a good job fleshing out her characters. You have the shy boy, the sunny girl, the Belle(s) and Hunk(s), the overbearing parent, the loving and respected parent, etc. Definitely full of different characters in this bunch of characters. This might be a little spoiler but I just love reading about couple J&L - they are so cute together! Read to find out! World background: High School, a secret organisation, the Military - what an interesting combination! I haven't come across a world background like this before until I read this novel. With all that in mind, I find myself enjoying the story and I look forward to seeing new updates in the future! Thank you for the lovely story! All the best writing!
