"Then why don't you?" she answered after losing Nickel from her sight as he swims in the sea.
It is an understatement if she will not feel anything from all his actions, but she is also waiting for him stay that words that he likes her. As the prim and proper principle; it should always be man's to initiate those things, right? Well, from her experience and from the books she had read man is the first one to tell the woman that he likes or loves her.
"I'm just waiting for you!"
Nickel went into the waters and refreshes himself when suddenly May approached him and initiates a talk. "Hi, Sir!" May greeted him after his short dive; he was unaware that May was already near him. Too close that they can feel each other's breath. May miscalculated her distance that is why they faced that awkward position.
"May!" due to his surprise he unconsciously pushed her but not that hard away from him. He doesn't want to involved in anyone aside from the girl he ever wanted. And he knew that Zoey might them and thinks that there is something between them.
"I'm sorry, you're too close."
"I'm sorry, Sir."
Both of them talked simultaneously after that push, it is once again an awkward moment for them. "Why is it whenever I come closer to him, I cannot stop myself from doing stupid things." May internally scold her.
And to break the ice from what had happened Nickel apologize again and swam farther away from her.
Back to Zoey after Nickel walks away from her, guys start coming and introducing themselves. Only Carl took the confidence to sit on Nickel's chair. (Nickel's belongings are still there that is why Zoey still considered it to him.) "Hi! Zoe, can I call you Zoe for short?" he said.
Deep inside Zoey's mind, she thought that Zoey is already short why does this man still make it shorter. Is he that lazy to say her name?
"Zoey is already short and no I don't allow you." Being bitchy will not harm you isn't? She is already irritated from this from the time he keeps pairing himself to her and for being touchy during the game. To show her sportsmanship, she decided to act cool with it and don't show her other side.
"Wow! Where is your sweet side, Zoey. It is just a name," he replied with a little cockiness.
"She drowns and now dead. So leave me alone."
Carl would try one more time if Polly, the receptionist didn't approach Zoey. "Ma'am Z! Let's try kayaking." Other than May and some of her female staff, Polly became her companion throughout her stay in ASC. She is so cute and bubbly that is why she instantly caught her attention.
Polly didn't saw Carl on his seat, and when she does, she still didn't acknowledge him. Carl is the famous cocky jerk in ASC; he thought that he could get any girls that he likes. And because ASC is Polly's first job, she was oblivious on her first month on her work. There are times that Carl sends her sweet messages, food or anything under the sun just to get between her legs but unfortunately for him; Polly grew up with her three brothers and all of them taught her all types of men.
"Sure," Zoey answered right away and went to where Polly points where the kayaking station is. "Thank you, Polly, for saving me." She whispered to her after they made sure that they are already far from him.
"Don't mention it. I saw from your face that you're not comfortable around him that is why barged within your conversation. Don't ever let your guard fall down around him." She warned her; she also told Zoey his tactics to get into someone's pants. Zoey, on the other hand, also mentioned to Polly what he did during the activity building.
"What a jerk?!" They both said as their conclusion towards him.
"Don't let another know about this Ma'am Zoey, I am still gathering my evidence towards him, so I can report him to the management," Polly informed her to her plan. Carl already went into her nerves and she also doesn't want that kind of person tainted the reputation of ASC, her first job, she will try to kick him out.
"Okay, Aye! Aye, Captain! Anyway, will you please call me Zoey, drop the honorifics we're friends." And with that Zoey slap her back while they are walking.
During their walk, Polly did not mean to see May and Nickel being too cozy with each other. On their side, they thought that the two were kissing in the middle of the sea.
Zoey's heart fell a little pinch somewhere inside and it is weird that she is feeling it, she thought.
"I didn't know that Director Fuentes and Ma'am May were that intimate. I thought that you two are an item. I also ship you too since the beginning." Polly said after they saw that they already parted ways.
"What is a ship?" She got curious about the word that Polly used.
"You didn't know what ship meant? Wow! I thought that thing is already known around the world. Anyway, ship means a romantic pairing between two individuals regardless of their sexuality and preferences. I personally ship you two because you look good together. Did you know that when I orient the new hires, I warned them not to pair you two with others because, for me, you guys are the ultimate ship of all ships?" Polly expressed her emotions inanimate just like Zoey's. These girls are too transparent with their feelings if you will ask.
