Chapter 50: The Request (11): Deliberate

"Your vitals look good," the doctor informed, checking Jinhyun's pulse. "You should be well enough to be discharged tomorrow."

"Thank you doctor," Jinhyun said. Sekjong was standing beside his bed, observing silently as the doctor checked up on Jinhyun. As soon as the doctor left, Sekjong rounded on his friend.

"Where were you this afternoon?" he demanded. When Sekjong had returned after lunch, he discovered that Jinhyun had snuck out. For many hours, Sekjong and the hospital staff looked for him everywhere before they finally found him at the pediatric ward, playing with some kids.

"I was just taking a stroll around the park," Jinhyun shrugged. He did not dare mention that he was eating food off a lunchbox from a stranger. Sekjong would flip out if he found out and would lecture him about all the possible dangers he may have fallen into.

"Jinhyun please just stay still for a while and try to recover!" Sekjong scolded him. He felt as if he was babysitting a toddler.

"I will! I will!" Jinhyun assured him albeit half heartedly. He could not explain to Sekjong how restless he was feeling. He had not confided about his strange dreams with anyone. Even though Jinhyun thought that his mind was just making up everything, there was a part inside of him, pushing him to believe Seyoung's words.

There was something about Seyoung which felt strange. They had the same face as if they were identical twins. But even in their brief encounter, Jinhyun could tell that they were poles apart. Seyoung seemed like someone who was tied down by the people around him, unable to control the events he was involved in. Jinhyun on the other hand was a free spirit who was determined to not let others control him.

Yet, both of them were two halves of the same coin.

Who are you, Seyoung? He wondered. He wanted to find out more about this man. Was he real? Or was he a part of Jinhyun's imagination?

"I'm talking to you!" Sekjong's angry voice drilled through his ears.

Jinhyun was so lost in his thoughts that he was not paying any heed to Sekjong.

"Huh?" he asked stupidly.

"I said, you have to rest for a week at least!" Sekjong exclaimed. "So you'll stay home next week."

"Oh that. Okay. I'll rest at home."

"Good," Sekjong said, feeling triumphant. However, Jinhyun had no intention of following his instructions. He needed answers and he would utilize his freetime to seek them.

There was a knock on the door. They looked up to see Cherry standing there. Jinhyun was surprised to see that she was not wearing anything red. Instead she was wearing a white shirt with denim jeans with comfortable sneakers. He was so used to seeing her in bright red clothes that seeing her in subdued colors felt strange. Yet, he could not help but admire her.

She still looked breathtakingly beautiful. Her hair was tied in an elegant ponytail while she wore no makeup on her face. Her simple attire made her look more youthful and, he hoped she would never find out about his thoughts, sexy.

Even though she was icy towards him, he could not help but be drawn towards her. There was a charm about Cherry. He felt a strong connection with her, as if they were meant to meet. Despite her rude behavior, he could not help but fall for her every time they met.

Will I ever get to make a mark in her heart? He pondered sadly.

"Ms. Wang!" Sekjong said in surprise. "You're here!"

"I did say I would visit," Cherry stated. She was holding a wrapped up gift in her hands.

"Sekjong, go and get some coffee and dessert for the lady," Jinhyun hissed.

"Why?" Sekjong frowned. "It's nearly dinnertime. Who would have coffee and snacks at this hour?"

"Then take my card and get her some jjajamyeong from the cafe!"

"The cafe doesn't have-"

"For God's sake just go to the nearby restaurant and buy her jjajamyeong!" Jinhyun hissed furiously. Sekjong threw him a dirty look before snatching Jinhyun's wallet from the bedside table and heading out. He gave Cherry a polite bow before exiting the room, leaving the other two alone.

"Please sit," Jinhyun said, indicating towards a chair next to his bed.

"How are you feeling now?" she asked, taking a seat.

"I'm -"

"Yeah enough of the pleasantries!" she snapped. "Let's get down to business."

Jinhyun blinked at her. She was still thorny towards him even though they had just shared a near death experience together.

"I have had my staff investigate the fire at the studio," she went on, taking out some files from her bag. She handed them to him.

Jinhyun carefully read through them, his frown deepening with every word.

"The fire department thinks it was deliberate?" he questioned. "Someone committed arson?"

"Apparently, yes," she stated in matter of fact tone. "Someone left a burning cigarette near a curtain."

"That can be an accident," Jinhyun pointed out.

"It may have been," Cherry said. "Except for the fact that the curtains were two meters above the ground and a cigarette butt was found lying on the floor directly underneath them. It was the only flammable object in the room. Someone will have to take the cigarette, light it, put the curtains on fire and drop it on the ground for the fire to take place."

Jinhyun opened his mouth to reply but she cut him off.

"Moreover, the sprinklers were turned off," she added. "Which further proves that the fire was a planned setup."

"Why would someone start a fire on our set?" he demanded. "The security was tight as well. It would be impossible for someone to put the set on fire without notice. They'd be caught on the CCTV cameras if they attempted to break into Jenna's room."

"No one went to her room," Cherry corrected him.

"Then how do you expect the fire to start?" he asked, rolling his eyes.

"Because," Cherry said, leaning forward. "Your friend Jenna was the one who started the fire."

Did Jenna really start the fire? Or is it one of Yoona's tricks?
