Chapter 19: A Hummer?
As the virtual devices available in the central universe are too advanced for Earth, they had to redesign it from the scratch. So Paul and Leo spent an entire day inside the study room.
Finalizing their plans, they came out of the room and had something to eat. After that they went to the main hall where they saw Robert.
"Paul, have you decided anything about your college" asked Robert sitting on a couch and Butler Sam is standing behind him in the main hall.
"Not yet dad. I'm still not clear about it" said Paul thinking what he should do.
No college in this planet or even in this galaxy sector knows more than him and about Leo, his knowledge is enough to push planet Earth forward to 500 years.
Simply, they are too over qualified for Earth's colleges. But he can't say this out loud because there is Sam and other staff around them. With what is going on in the family. Paul is wary about everyone.
"It's okay, take your own time" said Robert and got up from the couch.
"Where's Mom?"
"She went to give a lecture in her college" said Robert vigoursly.
"Right. Why don't to go and attend her lecture. It can help you and Leo assess the college" said Robert after giving it a thought.
"What do you say?" asked Paul to Leo
"Ofcourse, I'm already feeling suffocated staying in my room" said Leo.
"Ha ha ha, Okay. You guys have fun. I have to go to office. There is lot of work piled up just in a day" said Robert but before he leave he asked Paul.
"What do you want me to do about Henry?"
Robert can take an appropriate action on the matter of Henry but this is related to Paul. So he should ask him about what you do on this matter.
"I can take care of this matter, Master Robert. It is my fault as head butler for not teaching Henry properly. You don't have waste time on this trivial things" said Sam politely with a British accent.
But before Robert gave a reply.
"Why don't you guys leave that fellow to me" said Leo with a wide smile.
Robert looked at Paul, for which Paul nodded as a sign of approval.
"Sure then. Leonard will handle this matter from now. Paul, Caroline's lecture will be in two hours" said Robert and left the main hall followed by Sam.
"It will take us more than forty five minutes to reach the Holborn. On the way, I'll let you taste some of the Earth's finest cuisine" said Paul to Leo.
"Oh now you are speaking. Let's go there. Quick" said Leo excitedly.
Paul gestured Leo to follow him and took him to the mansion's garage. Slowly the garage door slide opened revealing a massive fleet of cars ranging from a Volkswagen Beetle to the Rolls Royce Phantom.
Though Leonard don't have any idea about the cars in front of him, he took a scan with the virtual device and understood the value of the cars in that garage.
A person came running towards Paul wearing the staff suite of Pendragon family.
"Good Morning, Master Paul. It's been a long time seeing you" said that person.
"How are you Larry? Long time indeed" said Paul to the person named Larry.
Larry is the caretaker of the Robert's car collection. His main job is to maintain the cars in their perfect condition. Paul know Larry since his childhood and he is one of Robert's confidants.
"This must be young master's friend. You can call me Larry. Nice to meet you" said Larry to Leo.
"Nice to meet you too, Larry" said Leo smiling.
"Uncle Larry, can you bring that new chap Henry to the interrogation room. My friend here has some questions for him" said Paul to Larry.
Though Larry's main job is the caretaker of the Robert's cars. His side job is to help Robert take care of some issues. Apparently he had worked for the British intelligence as an interrogation specialist and a bloody one of those.
"Sure. How do you want me to deal with him?" asked Larry with a sinister look.
"No need. Just bring him to the room. We will take care of it" declined Paul knowing what Larry meant.
"As you wish" said Larry with disappointment.
"Anyway, do we have any non luxurious cars in the garage? I want to be lowkey for sometime" said Paul to Larry.
"Well Yes. we have Audi A8, BMW 3 series,
Mini Cooper and some Teslas.Oh! we also have Maserati Ghibli. It is lowkey and comfortable" said Larry a list of cars available.
Meanwhile Leo is looking at the cars around him. while walking he stopped infront of a car and said, "Let's take this one out".
"Dude. How is this lowkey?" asked Paul looking at what Leo has shown.
"I don't care. I like it. I'm your guest. You have to listen what I have said" said Leo firmly.
"Arghhh!! Fine. Uncle Larry, bring the keys to this" said Paul.
After a minute a custom made, pure black, 2006 Hummer H1 Alpha came out of the Pendragon mansion.
When it entered the busy streets. Everyone is looking at it because, it is very rare to see a Hummer on the streets of London.
After Fourty minutes the Hummer reached the Holborn area while receiving constant staring and gawking. By this time pictures and videos of his car were already shared widely in the social media.
At last Paul parked his car in front of a huge building and got down with Leo.
"London school of Economics and Political science" said Leo readinf the letters on the building before him.
"One of the best colleges in Economics on this planet" said Paul to Leo, who is already going through the internet to learn the information on this college.
They walked slowly into the campus. But everyone in the campus are looking at them weirdly.
"Who is that idiot?" a student said looking at Leo to his friend.
"Wearing sunglasses, black gloves, overalls. A hat?what era do you think you are in?" said another laughing at them.
Paul understood what's the problem is. As Leo don't know the clear fashion on this planet. He can only search the internet to know the Londoners style.
Internet can be deceiving some times. Though Paul knows that what Leo is wearing is an old Victorian era clothing, he didn't warned Leo. So that he can see Leo embarrass himself.
But, he just remembered one thing. That is, Leo is thick skinned. So now it is actually Paul who is feeling embarrassed standing with Leo.
Paul slightly kept his head down and escaped from the scene with Leo. He took Leo to bathroom and took some normal looking clothes from his storage ring and gave it Leo.
After five minutes, Leo came out of the washroom wearing a normal shirt and pant. Paul and Leo, asked some students about the place where Caroline's lecture take place.
A lecture by Noble Laureate is no simple matter. Even a college like LSE(1) should arrange a huge auditorium for accommodating large number of students and faculty. So they found the place very easily.
But to their dismay the auditorium is already filled to the brim. There are even students standing at the back but luckily Paul found some empty seats at the very front.
So he and Leo went to the front and sat on the seats. But the students are looking at them weirdly again. "Now what?" thought Paul within himself.
"Excuse me, this seats are reserved for the college faculty and exceptional students. Can you guys go to the back?" said a voice behind him.
When Paul turned and looked back, he saw a beautiful lady looking at him. Paul forgot what to say for a second but he immediately regained his senses and said "Oh! I'm sorry. I don't know about it"
"How can you measley undergrads sit at the front. Get lost" said a man sitting beside that beautiful lady.
Hearing this, Paul stopped midway standing up and sat back on the seat again. Looking at Paul, even Leo sat back.
"You bastards, can't you understand what I said? Get out" said that man furiously.
"But who are you to tell me that?" said Paul with straight face.
