Chapter 57: The Magical Cord

I am still squatting on the floor, crying my heart out, when I heard the voices of my friends. They are calling my name softly, I know they are surrounding me, but I continue weeping.

"Malia, please come with us, don't waste your tears with that stupid Crown Prince, if he continues doing this to you, even if I am not my brother, I can still defeat him." Nick said, I can feel his exasperation in his voice.

"Yes! You are right Nick! I think two is better than one, we can get him down to his knees, he should stop bothering Malia, I never said this before, but I know he is trying to get Malia's attention, but he is flirting with Avery. I think this time, we should stop his scheme once and for all." Hale spoke calmly, yet I can also feel his anger.

"Hey! I know you wanted to get back to my cousin, but please be considerate, trust me on this, my cousin is not what he seems, I can't tell you all about it, but I can assure you, he really cares for Malia." Declan is trying his best to stop them from harming Flynn.

"What?" Prince Hale and Prince Nick asked Prince Declan at the same time, with the same annoyed tone.

"Hey! Are you crazy? Calm down all of you, you heard the Headmaster the other day right? You are not allowed to hurt Prince Flynn, he is not only the Crown Prince of Erthesia, he is also powerful, and most of all, he doesn't hurt Malia physically. You wanted to be out of this academy? How are you going to protect Malia if that happens?" Freda said, I am glad that my best friend is around. They all fell silent.

"Guys! I am okay, thank you so much for your concern about me, and I appreciate it, trust me, I will get back in there, but right now I just wanted to be alone, so please just leave me for now." I said, I didn't even try to raise my head. I am glad they didn't force me to go back inside the ballroom with them, none of them said anything, then slowly I lifted my head, and I saw them striding towards the entrance of the grand ballroom.

I sighed with relief. I don't know how much time I spend whimpering on the floor. Finally, my tears ceased on falling, I was able to think clearly, I am really stupid, how could I let myself be like this, I looked so pitiful. In the human world, I don't have any powers, and I am a nobody, yet I never felt like this, so down, hurt, and lost.

Then out of a sudden I feel a warm sensation transmitted to my whole body, I don't want to stand up, but the pull is so strong that even my power cannot resist it, I feel my own body move on its own, it is calling me and dragging me back inside the ball hall. When I reached at the entryway, I tried to withstand the compulsion of the strong energy that enfolding my whole body, but I failed.

I tried to grab anything within my reach, but before I can get hold a thing or a fairy I am being pulled strongly. Some of my classmates tried to reach out my hand, but the moment they stretch their arms, they are being thrown away.

I don't know what is going on, but my heart started to palpitate, and my palms are sweating because of the fear creeping inside my whole body. I can't feel the dark energy, so I am safe from the dark forces, besides the whole ballroom is protected by magic. I want to use my Spektra power, but I can't, because my fellow students and professors are inside the ball hall.

At last I saw it, in front of my very eyes, I can see the light that has been tugging me, it is now coiling on my waist, the whole crowd moved and give way to me, even the fairies who are eating and dancing, stopped from what they are doing, everybody stands still and I can see the astonished look on their faces, some fairies are covering their mouths.

I was able to glance the aroused excitement of my fellow students. Right before my eyes, I see the light turned into a cord. It hit me, I was chosen as the Festival Queen, then a glowing light came from the cord travels to the crowd it seems looking for the rightful king.

I looked around to find my friends, but the glowing light is blinding my eyesight, I feel that my entire body is trembling, the rapid beating of my heart is making me more anxious, my anticipation is killing me. I slowly call my power, I am very careful in calling my magic, I want to use it the slightest, I can't risk to expose myself in front of a big crowd, since I am sure that everyone is safe.

I felt my magic surge, then I tried to tame the cord in my body, I felt it moved only a little, but I am happy that it has responded to me. Once more I attempted to communicate with it, from what I have learned, the magical cord is very powerful. In this fairy world, everything is possible, if you are just a powerful fairy, the hard part is, I can't use my full power right now, without exposing myself.

Using my magic I was able to see clearly, I looked around for my aunt since I wanted to ask some help, but she is no longer standing on the stage, neither Headmaster Amos. The cord brought me exactly in front of the stage.

"Please cord leave my body at once" I said in a loud voice, but it didn't listen to me, instead it looped around my body even more, I am surprised, even it coiled on my body tightly, I can still breath freely, it is indeed a magical cord. I am thinking very hard to get away from the cord, since it secured me in front of the crowd, it made me more anxious, now everybody is looking at me mesmerized.

I felt so happy, when I see my aunt standing not so far away from me.

"Aunt Thalia, please help me." I said through her mind, looking at her helplessly, but I saw her shaking her head.

"My dear, you are so innocent, you can never break free from the cord, I am not sure if you use your Spektra power, you can resist its magic, but right now all you have to do is obey its command, don't contradict its decision. The cord is harmless Malia, it is the most honest, magical artifact in the Erthesia Land." She said, her smile gave me comfort and all my anxieties were gone. I felt my heart start beating in a steady manner.

"Malia, I will not intercede, since I know you will not be harmed." She said, then my aunt leaves my mind quickly, she didn't give me a chance to speak up again. She glided towards the crowd looking at the light that still travelling inside the entire ballroom.

Then I saw Prince Nicholas, Prince Hale, and Prince Declan, they are all chasing the light, it made me really laugh, what they think they are doing. They look so funny flying around, trailing the light that is still connected in the cord, which is still securely tied in my body.

No matter how fast they are, they never get the chance to get hold of the light, until I am shocked, most of my male fellow students participated in the chasing of the magic light, it bacame suddenly chaos inside the ball hall, my eyes filled with tears, the first time I arrived in this academy, I was being mocked and laughed with, but right now I can see boys running, and flying atfer the magic light that will turn into a cord once, touch by the chosen Festival King.

I never imagine that a lot of my classmates really like me, they don't know who I am, I felt so lucky and blessed, even though I am still in my quest on saving my parents, knowing that there are fairies out there, who care and wanted to be with me, is giving me enough reason to fight and to be happy.

I saw my aunt standing beside Headmaster Amos, she is laughing heavily looking at the boys, while the Headmaster can't stop shaking his head, I can also see the amusement of the Headmaster's face. Who could have thought, that the choosing of the Festival King will turn out so fun.

Then suddenly, I am thinking about Flynn, since I was chosen it only means one thing, the Crown Prince of Erthesia loves me too. But I witnessed it with my own two eyes, that he kissed Avery not so long ago passionately, I am only in love with one fairy, I am perpetually be in love with Prince Flynn, could it be possible that I am in love with someone else without realizing it?
