Chapter 3: CH 1 Meeting a God
I was surprised to regain my senses even after dying. I had often thought that death would be the end but maybe it wasn't so. The reason for my sudden change in belief was that I could see a ten-foot-tall faceless and featureless humanoid mannequin, made of unknown materials, handling a bunch of holographic screens that rapidly popped up around him.
The mannequin constantly mumbled a bunch of incomprehensible stuff while doing whatever it was. The surrounding looked like some advanced futuristic spaceship, with various screens rapidly showing various results in response to the mannequin's mumblings. Soon the mannequin finished its current work and screens stopped popping up around him and flashing lights of the spaceship stopped.
I found that there was something wrong with me. I was not breathing or blinking thus far, neither could I feel any sensation of my body. I could see, hear, and perceive everything around me, except for myself. Before I could panic, I saw something even more incomprehensible than the mannequin.
There were four small balls of light floating around like a glowing balloon. Colored Lights flashed softly from the balls of light in random moments. Before I could panic though, I saw the mannequin leaning towards me and the four balls of light as a soft yet pressurizing voice emerged from him.
[Well Hello to all of you. First of all, there is no need to panic. All you need to do is listen to me as I am speaking and just accept your circumstance. No matter how much you panic or try to argue or whatever, your current circumstance can no longer go back to what it was before.]
The voice of the mannequin felt like something that can't be disobeyed as I found myself directly following its instructions.
[Now first order of business, informing you what you are. Each of you might be imagining what the four balls of light around you are. Those balls of light are souls, and for the other balls, you too are a ball of light i.e a soul. Simply put, you all are dead and now have become souls. How you died, I don't need to explain to you as each of you know that as good as I do.]
[Now, each of you sees me in a different form than others. While it may seem like I am talking to all of you as a group, actually each of you is perceiving a different version of me that is talking as if it's talking directly to you. All of you perceive me and my environment in various different forms that may make sense to your soul based on its memories of the previous life.]
[Anyway, the second order of business. Now you need to know what made you come before me and what I am. Simply put, I am an administrator of a world different than yours, a parallel one you can say. If an administrator does not make sense, you can imagine that I am an administrator god from your perspective.]
[Anyway, the reason why you have suddenly come to my world instead of reincarnating in yours is because of a certain ritual that needs to take place regularly after a certain time interval for the survival of my world. The time interval is 100 years from the point of your world's time or 1000 years from my world's point of time.]
[Your world has a nickname called 'The Junkyard of Gods'. This is due to the reason that your world is one of the only ones in which the gods of the world can't make a direct change to anything involved with the sentient races of the world. The laws that make up the structure of your world are so strong that even the gods can make minute changes even in the laws that they are in charge of.]
[Hence your world keeps on accumulating its karma, which transforms itself to pure origin potential of your world. But since your world laws are so rigid, supernatural barely exists in your world and that leaves the origin potential of your world to become junk that is barely utilized at all by various gods and certain members of sentient races in the form of qi, mana, prana or divine energy, etc.]
[Hence some gods of different worlds, such as me, use a small part of the accumulated origin potential to fuel our worlds that have looser laws that enable its inhabitants to have access to the supernatural. In exchange, at any point in time, if our world's get destroyed, its inhabitant souls flow to your world. That is the equivalent exchange contract established between our worlds.]
[Now, sometimes in the process of transferring this potential, a minute amount of energy gets mixed with various souls that have left their vessels at that exact moment. That results in two scenarios. The first one is where the soul gets strengthened and reincarnates in a normal way.]
[This gives rise to various heroic figures or famous personalities or weird people in your world who show capabilities leaps and bounds beyond those of others of their time.]
[The second scenario is that of yours, where the soul is strengthened by the origin potential but instead of reincarnating, it gets dragged to the different world along with the rest of the energy of origin potential. Now generally we see 1 or 2 souls. But this time for some reason 5 of you came, which Is why I had to go through so much effort to stabilize the system.]
[Now as an administrator god of this world, I permit you to reincarnate in my world. But before that, I need to decide the various details that will be used for your reincarnation. Don't worry, all you need to do is reply to my questions by simply thinking them.]
[Oh ya, I know some of you have the illusion that since you are transmigrating you will get some special gift from god. Sorry to disappoint you but that is not so. All your capabilities will be decided by the strength, quality, and type of your soul.]
[Okay now, question time. Do you want to keep the name of your previous life or change it ?]
'No, I want to keep my name.' I thought immediately. I had initially thought I would change it, but for some reason, I felt an immense amount of uneasiness when deciding to go through with it. Hence I decided not to change.
[Gender you want to be transmigrated as?]
'Male'
[Appearance same as previous life or random one based on your soul ?]
'Make it based on my soul' I decided that my new life will not be dependent on my old one
[Alright, there are various races you might be transmigrated as, including the default of your soul which is human. But I will be leaving it to random based on your soul properties. Oh, and the 'record' of your identity has to be created since technically you are not of my world. So you will be taking the place of some of the recently dead humans based on the choices you just specified.]
[Don't worry, you will completely take over the said human, i.e. you will gain their memory and their physical appearance and other details will completely match your given choice. For making it easier for you to adapt, all the said humans will be ones who were loners initially so you won't have to face an instance of having previous family or friends.]
[Now is there anything left… oh yes. In my world, all of you will have something called 'Status'. In my world, there are two categories of beings, Mortals and Inhumans, a weird name since some of the Inhumans weren't even 'humans' in the first place. The Inhumans are those that have special abilities and can see the so-called 'Status'.]
[Similar to the games in your world, there is also something called 'Skills'. There are two types of skills, Innate and Acquired. Acquired Skills are something you gain by working towards the goal of becoming proficient in certain things or through some special means you will learn in the world after transmigrating.]
[Innate Skills on the other hand are based on your soul. They are generally uniquely yours, as they are based on your experiences, nature, and desires. Innate skills of some people can sometimes seem extremely OP or broken while others can seem worthless in comparison.]
[But what you need to keep in mind is that no innate skill is useless. As they are directly tied to your soul, they can be called the purest incarnation of your soul. Diligent effort to strengthen your innate skill through either constant use or comprehension will give you surprising results at times.]
[Now, I have explained everything you need to know for your first step in my world. If I would try to make you knowledgeable in every aspect of my world, it might take a long time before I finish. So have fun, my children, learn, grow, and gain new experiences in my world and I pray your lives are much better than your previous ones.]
