A Lady Doesn't Lie

Okay, this is going to be a long review. Also, I am writing this review while on chapter 25. (Also, there are some minor spoilers ahead so tread carefully if your a newer reader.) First, lets talk about the writing quality. It's amazing! Many novels on this site don't have good translations and are filled with many, many grammatical and spelling errors. It's frustrating to constantly fill in the blanks while reading, sometimes I even have to reread some parts to fully understand what happened because the word choice is just so... abstract. But this, this gorgeous masterpiece, doesn't have any such flaws. Grammar is great and spelling is fine. Sometimes a sentence or two won't flow correctly, but that's just me nick picking useless details. Next, we have story development. Overall, it's pretty great. The story is interesting and the plot keeps me pretty well invested. No real critique's here. Character Design. I am not quite sure as to what this pertains to but I am going with how each character is presented and developed. In my opinion, I think the author does a fantastic job at giving the characters life. Each person has a motive, personality, and individuality that some novels just forget to include (I am looking at you Harem novels). I feel sad, angry, and heartbroken for some characters, like Kalina and the Duchess, and others I want to see crushed under a rock, like Nessa and the Duke (*cough* RAT *cough*). I think the author has done a good job, at least up until chapter 25, and I love the way they present and describe each character. 10/10 Lastly, we have the world background. It's set in a medieval fantasy world, like many novels are these days, and it has the usual reincarnation and revenge tags. Now, this genre of novels can be played well but it can also be played terribly wrong. I think its a very delicate balance between the two, and this novel falls on the good side of the genre. My only problem would have to be the way the nobility is constructed. There are some flaws with the historical accuracy (yes I understand it's a fantasy novel but its based on medieval Europe so it can be confusing), such as a single DUCHESS getting married to the FOURTH son of a MARQUESS. Even if the duchess thought he was the father of Kalina it would make no sense for her to marry him. I doubt the other nobles would stand for it, even the king / emperor might not agree. Duke's and Duchess's are important nobles in society so they usually get married to someone of equal standing, the lowest they could get married to would be a Count (Some other historical romance novels take this way to far and have a duke marry a commoner / Baroness. But it's fantasy so it's usually okay, I guess its also okay for plot reasons). It's not a huge flaw, but one I found to be quite confusing. I can't critique the love / romance part of the novel, as I have yet to arrive at that part of the story but I am sure it will be okay. With the way this novel is currently going I can safely assume the romance will be good. I have faith in a good historical-romance novel with good grammar and no spelling mistakes. Anyways, that's it. Honestly, this is a good read and I highly recommend it for it's good spelling, grammar, and plot.
