Chapter 33: It Hurts Like Hell
Miracle's POV
I felt my cell phone vibrated in my blazer pocket. I get my phone and open the message which comes from Jace. My hands are shaking the moment I finished reading his text. I knew that my father arrived last night, he called me and apologized that he couldn't have dinner with me. Something must be wrong, why he summoned Jace early in the morning? Did Dad find out about my feelings for Jace? I excused myself and asked Stella to cover for me.
I waited for Jace last night, but he arrived past midnight. His actions this morning is indicating that Trish, his best friend reminded him about his girlfriend back home. Yeah! I know that I can never have him in my life, but what can I do? I am in love with my bodyguard. It may sound absurd, but it is the truth. I am crazy about Jace, I don't know how to stop myself.
He ignored me this morning, I am fine with it. Maybe he is trying his best to avoid me. I don't want to look pitiful in his eyes, if he doesn't like me, there is nothing I can do. I know I can't buy love, but I wish Jace will like me too. I want him to kiss me again and to feel his warm body next to mine, and I want him to whisper sweet things in my ear. I know I am thinking of impossible thing.
My daydreaming ceased when the elevator stopped on my father's floor. I was welcomed by Mr. Michael's secretary with big smile on his face.
"Good morning, Ms. Miracle! What can I do for you?" He greeted me.
"I just want to talk to my father, Rey." I said.
"I am sorry, but you can't get inside Ms. Mira, your father is having a meeting with Mr. Michael as of the moment."
"Oh, I understand, don't bother Rey, I will just call my dad." I said, I went near to the door, and I can see Rey has shifted closer to me. I called my dad, but he didn't pick up. After my third attempt. I texted my father.
"Dad, if you are going to ignore my call once more, or you won't open the door of your office, your daughter will scream in two minutes. I am not kidding, dad." I sent the message. After a minute, Mr. Michael emerged in the door with a grin on his face. I didn't return his smile, I am so angry with my father.
When I get inside on his spacious office, I saw Jace standing in front of my father's table. He didn't even ask him to have a seat, it was rude of him.
"Miracle! It is lovely to see you, my dear." Dad stands up from his chair, and he walked towards me.
"Dad, you hurt my feelings, how can you summon Jace, without seeing your daughter first? Am I not important to you?" I demanded, my voice sounded so hurt.
"Mira, that is why I asked Mr. King to be here because of your safety, I need not tell you how much you mean to me, Miracle." My father said, he looked so tired and I feel guilty.
"If this concerns Jace, I think you should call for me too, Dad." I said. I need to know what they are talking about. Jace is standing properly, I suddenly want to explore his glorious body, I looked at him, he looks so serious, but I can see his face flushed.
Then my father shows me the footage of the CCTV camera where Jace carried me from the main entrance of the building to my car. I covered my mouth with my hands. We looked like a newlywed, I can feel my body feels goosebumps, and I can't stop the butterflies in my stomach. I remember vividly how heavenly he smells.
"I can explain about that video dad." I said.
"Mr. King explained everything Mira, but I heard and witnessed it myself you are the talk of the employees of our company Miracle, sooner than later they will know about you. They are curious who is the girl in his arms? What a catchy caption." Dad said angrily.
"I am just glad you are looking at Jace's face the whole time, so it partly hides your face, I can't believe that the two of you can be so careless. I am afraid of your safety, Mira. What if they will target you again, and now people are talking about you Jace, girls are commenting they wished to be in your arms too? This is hilarious, they have shared the video how many times, by fans of Jace." I preferred to intervene, but it will be obvious, there is nothing wrong with the video, it just looks so sweet." My father said, he looks at us seriously.
"Jace, you can leave now, young lady, you must stay, I need to discuss something with you. Michael, please call the marketing department and informed them you ask Miracle to do some errands for you." Dad said with authority.
"Yes, Sir." Mr. Michael said, and they both left us. My father is looking at me with curiosity in his eyes.
"Miracle, when did you fall for your bodyguard?" my dad asked, I am taken aback by his question.
"What?" I asked him, I am pretending I don't understand, but I can't stop the rapid beating of my heart.
"Don't fool me Miracle, the way you looked at Jace, I know you are in love with him." He said, I am speechless, I wish to contradict his words, but I can't deny it to him.
"I'm sorry, Dad, I don't mean too, I hate him at first dad, that is why I wanted to eliminate him in the first place, this is your fault, you hired him even if I was against it." I said, I want to blame my father for what happened.
"How can you fall for him? He is your bodyguard Mira, Jace has a girlfriend and he is planning to marry her after he will become a millionaire. I don't want you to get hurt. Don't bother Jace Mira, don't make his life complicated. I won't allow you to date him, it is written on the contract Miracle, don't ruin his career because of your personal intentions." I have never been so pained in my entire life, I can feel my tears but I tried my best not to cry in front of him. How can he be cruel? He is my father, he doesn't even consider how I felt.
I keep silent, I look down at my shoes. How I wished my mom was here. I hate my dad for being so insensitive about my emotions. He could have asked me how I feel. I know I can't have Jace, but he should not tell me about Jace plan of marrying his girlfriend. It hurt me to the core. Jaxson hurt me, but my feelings for Jace are more than what I felt for Jax.
"Mira, I am sorry." Dad said.
"It is okay, Dad, don't worry, I understand what you mean. Jace doesn't like me, so you have nothing to be bothered about." I said, then I get up and left his office without a second glance. Just thinking about Jace gets married hurts like hell. This is too much to bear. My father murder my heart.
Instead of going back to the marketing department. I proceed to the first floor and I didn't use the elevator. I used the emergency exit.
My other bodyguards thought I was with Jace this is the right time to escape, at first I looked for someone who works from the janitorial services, I bribed her to exchange clothes with me, I handed her two hundred dollars. I can see the surprised look in her eyes, she said she has an extra uniform and no need to return it. I ride the taxi and went home to get important belongings. I never feel so free in my entire life. It feels invigorating.
"Hello! Grandma?" I asked.
"Miracle? Oh, my sweet dear Mira, how are you?" She said, and I can feel the excitement in her voice.
"Grandma!" I said, I am sobbing and it is hard for me to speak.
"Why are you crying my dear?" My grandma sounds so worried.
"Can I come home, grandma? I wish to spend my vacation with you, I miss you so much." I said.
"You are always welcome here Miracle, how come it is you who called, not your father?" She asked.
"We had a misunderstanding grandma, I just wish to stay there with you. I will tell you everything. I am on my way to the airport. Bye Grandma Amelia." I hang up the phone, I know I am being insensitive. My father just did it for my own sake, but I am so hurt that I want to stay away from him. Jace is getting married? He didn't even bother to tell me he has a girlfriend until recently, and now my own father told me that Jace is getting married? It has been a long time I wanted to go to my grandma's manor. I want to enjoy my remaining vacation without thinking about Jace.
I turned off my phone, I haven't boarded an airline before, but I have seen it many times in movies so there is nothing to be afraid of. I still have five hours before my flight. I was glad I could book my ticket online without hassle. I haven't done it before. I am so happy that I was successful in buying my plane ticket. I send my booking details to my grandma. I can't wait to see the farm.
