Chapter 32: Think Further Ahead

Informing that old guy about what happened is the most sensible decision I'll choose. The probability that Xavier will soon return is high. However, I feel that something is preventing him from doing so. As early as possible, choosing to undergo that hypnotherapy would be the responsible thing to do.

That dream felt something terrible. Yes, I am glad that the remaining light of hope has been lit again by his appearance. But the horrifying phrase that Xavier left terrified me. Even Though I didn't see him personally. His presence is ample to tell that something is different from the usual happy go lucky Xavier.

Somehow, I got scared of someone who I once up till now looked up to. Let's put that aside for the time being and just inform the old man about Xavier's appearance. Then tell him the decision I came up with regarding the plan that I, alongside Benjiro Abe, want to initiate. Only an hour left before the time that we talk again in the watchtower.

Staying here in the cell will only worsen my thinking. There is the possibility of me questioning myself over again. I'm getting bored seeing that old man's face, to be honest, but he is someone who can aid us in the plan to take down the reign of Mazuko both here at the prison and outside of the prison.

Remember that feeling I had before because whenever we meet. I still kept on catching the feeling that he was trying to hide something. Because if you try to dig into his background a little deeper. There is definitely a thing or two in there that doesn't connect. Imagine someone who seemed to be just a man who is a happy go lucky man but has wide knowledge about different things.

Some may call him a walking dictionary, and I remember that he is a friend of Xavier's father but how come that he has so much authority for an ordinary officer without high rankings. Because there is this one time when I followed him, an officer gave his salute to him as if he were of high ranking.

Although I didn't have the chance to hear what they talked about. But during their talk, the officer suddenly changed his ways of approaching that old man. Whether my deduction is the truth or not, there seems to be nothing bad that will happen to Xavier and me if I follow this guy.

"Please return to your cells because the gates will be closing at approximately six o'clock in the evening," a sudden announcement by the broadcast room.

Better head out now before the guards start patrolling. The old man must be in there already waiting for me. As I head out towards the back of the building and go to the watchtower, the route that I have taken is suspiciously enough that there were none of the patrol guards guarding the route. I may have thought that they'll provide heavy security there because of what happened this afternoon.

Where an inmate tried to escape using the fences on the back. And if I ask you a question, dont every corner of the prison have lights directed towards it? The purpose of that is to see that every prisoner doesn't have the chance to escape using the route. However, only this part of the prison does not have any lights or anything to support that purpose.

Not that I care since it's much convenient for me to head to the watchtower. And it is probably for the best since I don't have to worry about the problem of being caught, plus it is an abandoned establishment. So there would be none other than Xavier and me, plus the old man who is aware of this safe haven.

Arriving at the watchtower, it seems that the old man is still not around. Better for me to stay hidden though, due to the restrictions that the old man told me about. What I think of as the requirements to fulfill to be able to be released from this prison legally. To be pardoned according to the rules and regulations of the prison is my primary goal.

However, I hope that Xavier understands that I still need to help these people who suffered more than what he experienced. And judging by Xavier's personality, he can realize the good this will bring on a lot of people. Because just like what Xavier has said to me a couple of times.

'Help those who seek for assistance, as long as our strength can provide us everything we need.'

"Hey, kid. Why are you spacing out in there? Head upstairs before someone saw you wandering at this hour," the old man stated as he suddenly appeared from a distance.

We then walked towards the watchtower and then went upstairs.

"Why were you spacing out in there? Don't you know that it may harm Xavier because of what you have done? You are basically breaking the law implemented in this prison. If an officer caught you off guard, you can say goodbye to the chance of being pardoned," the old man chipped in.

"So have you thought of the decision you'll choose about the topic that we discussed this afternoon? And I repeat my warning, what you choose will greatly affect others, not only you. If you are ready to sacrifice something for the sake of what you think is best, then as the standing guardian of Xavier in this prison. It is one of my duties to provide you with the necessary information to aid you," he added to his statement.

"Before we start with this conversation, there is something important that I must tell you. Earlier this afternoon, when I returned to my cell and took a quick nap. Xavier suddenly appeared in my dreams, and I don't know if it was just an ordinary dream or it's a premonition of something," my response to his statement.

"What exactly did you see?" the old man answered my response.

"I didn't see him, rather I heard him. The phrase that he stated was I don't know how to explain this, but it was horrifying. Although his statement this afternoon was only soon if you combine what he said in the past few days. You'll come up with a result that is clearly terrifying just by listening to his voice," my answer to his response.

"Feel my wrath, soon. Is this just a nightmare or a warning? I should undergo hypnotherapy as soon as possible," I added to my answer.

"Glad you have chosen the solution in a matured manner. However, that is not what we should be tackling. What I want is your answer regarding the nonsense you have brought upon this afternoon. You have to act speedily, because if you delay it even for a little longer. You will only suffer tenfold. Decide right here, right now," the response this guy had to my answer.

"Whatever may happen to me and the others, we have chosen to do what we must for us to escape being slaves of the same person who gave them false hope. This is not only for me but for the people who had to suffer Mazuko's immorality. And if you must decide to aid us in taking him down. Then any information that you have that might help us in bringing him down in accordance with the law is greatly appreciated," my answer to his response.

Upon hearing what I had to say, the look on his face is rather shocking. Although filled with curiosity, what part of my statement is surprising that it drove him up to this point?

"You really are full of surprises, aren't you, boy?" His statement after being shocked with the answer I have given him as my response.

"What do you mean? I'm quite puzzled by what you have stated. Do you mind explaining what you meant by that?" my response to his answer.

"To be honest, I am quite intrigued by how your mind works. Knowing that you are an alternate personality is another thing. Although there is something that has been lingering in my mind. How come that you think almost the same as Xavier? Let me be honest with you, I judged you with the thought that you'll be completely different from Xavier since you're obviously an alternative. However, just from the statement that you have stated. You have proven me wrong, so what is your plan, and let me help you with what you have planned in the future," his response shocked me as to what he felt about my statement.

"Well, the plan is to fight using the law as the basis. The others thought that I'll help them using violence, but I am still keeping in mind that the only chance I have to help Xavier to legally escape this prison is just inches away. So whether the need for physical is needed then I won't let anything happen that easily," my answer to his response explaining the plan that I have in mind.

"I admire your loyalty. However, even if I see your loyalty as quite foolish. Xavier is still the son of my friend. You have thirty days to complete what I am about to tell you. But the only way to bring down Daku legally is if you can convince the warden of this prison to testify against Mazuko," his response to the answer that I have stated.

"Warden? What does the warden have to do with this issue?" my answer filled with curiosity.

"You can figure it out by yourself. And a piece of advice, if you feel that you are stuck. Then try to see things from another perspective, you'll see the answer to your question," his final response then left the tower.
