Chapter 10: Ki Before Combat
"Lets begin." These two words for some small reason weighed on all the recruits shoulders like a mountain. They knew that the man before them would teach them how to become more powerful than they ever dreamed they would be. Even the naturally cocky recruits were in awe of Sgt. Shaw.
"everyone on the mats we will be starting with ki control. To start woth you will sit down cross legged with your eyes closed to reach a meditative state. When you are focused you will focus your mind on your chest. inside your chest you should see a little speck some start larger or smaller than others. Also no ones ki is the same. Everyone will. Great ki controllers might be able to spread their ki around their body within the week. Others might take a month. If you want to survive outside the academy you will build your ki at least an hour a day. In combat having more ki can save your life. Now focus your minds." Sgt. explained in detail on how to find ones ki along with the benefits of ki in combat and in training.
Thaleus closed his eyes and shut out the world. He focused his mind and u consciously slowed his heartbeat. Taking deep breaths letting them out and focused his attention on his chest. He sat this way for a couple minutes before *ding* "foreign substance detected in your body would you like to keep it?" (yes)(no) Thaleus accepted and found a small silver sphere the size of a dime inside himself. He focused more and allowed it to expand and contract in time with his breaths. As he did this he also moved it around his body slowly getting use to the feeling. He didn't know this but he shouldn't of had this much control on his first try. his sphere was also growing at a rapid rate. He focused more on the sphere in a sense like he zoomed in on it and he saw what looked like gold clock hands on it. He smiled and kept working on it feeling a sense of peace.
Sgt. Shaw was back in the middle of the class when he felt another aura in the room. "There's no way" He thought. "It's too soon for any of them to have enough grasp to have an aura yet." (Thalues's system makes it much easier for him to grasp and memorize feelings in his body therefore he can build his ki at probably 10x the speed as prodigal ki users.) The aura was small but he could already feel it building in size as if the user could alreasy control it and move it through his body. "I have to ask Tanya about this." (Tanya is one of the older teachers. she fought alongside Thomas against the Ragnor. She is also the strongest ki user in the academy) AN: If you don't remember there is a Statue of Thomas Richards in the main acadamy foyer.
Thaleus had now been moving his ball of silver ki for about 15 minutes now and it had grown to the size of a fist. He started to spread this around his body trying to get the feel of it.
At the 20 minute mark Sgt. Shaw stopped the class. "We can't spend the first hour doing ki. I advise alk of you to practice ki in your own time. Now we move to combat. Hand to hand will be the first step this will be a two week course and we will integrate weapons slowly that way you can learn to transfer ki to your weapons. On your feet recruits and find yourself a sparring partner."
The students got to their feet and tried to find a partner around their level of power. Thaleus was about to grab Kip when Johnny put his hand on his shoulder. A sinister grin on his face "You ready for round two chump?"
everyone saw this gesture and were surprised at Johnnys choice.
"A bully will always be a bully I guess." Thaleus thought. Little did Johnny know was that this fight wouldn't be as one sided as last time. There were two reasons for this. First abilities were forbidden for the first two months that way it evened the playing field. Secondly Thaleus was no longer as weak as he had been.
"Time to allocate those points I got from my mission this morning." he evened out his final stat Intelligence to make it 50 like the rest.
*Ding* Hidden stat unlocked Endurance: 25 (Endurance allows for Thaleus to take less damage to physical attacks, this does not pertain to elemental abilities.) This stat was surprising to Thaleus and he was confused as to how he earned it. "Once all your original stats reached 50 you unlocked your Endurance stat at half of your highest stat" Dom explained "This means if you had paid more attention to other stats for longer you couldve had a higher starting endurance."
"Gotcha" Thaleus said, but what perfect timing he felt like his defense was off the charts compared to before. "I may not be strong enough to defeat Johnny, but ima make him think twice before messing with me again."
