Endru made it home by the earliest of morning time. His belly felt a bit heavy from the creatures he ate. The meat was delicious, but he felt like it could test better. 'Maybe higher level creatures will taste better than this.' He thought.

He flew through the small window and landed next to the Jalan's shirt pocket. Jalan asked his mother to sew patches into all his shirts since Endru liked being in them. But, he knew that one day, Endru would be too big to fit in his pocket. For now, the little boy is letting it be.

Endru tried to sneak his way back into the pocket, but his attempt only caused the boy to wake. And when he woke up, saying, "Endru," everyone else popped up too. Even though Endru did not mean to wake up everyone, he flapped his wings and still tried to rest in Jalan's pocket.

He was tired due to all of the meat that he ate. Endru made his way into the pocket, moving around so he could find a comfortable spot. Jalan and the family laughed on the inside as they watched the little birdy trying to go to sleep in Jalan's pocket.

"Well, I guess it is time to get up," Jonathon spoke as he stood up and walked towards the bathroom. He stopped and turned towards his wife, "Honey, come join me. You always talked about saving water."

The kids made a disgusted face and yelled out "Ew" while the mother threw a pillow at Jonathon. "Do not do that in front of the kids again." But the mother got up anyway and went to join her husband. The kids quickly made their way out of the room.

"Let us play on our makeshift board game as we wait for the little birdy to wake up," Carlyn suggested. Jalan nodded and went to the small couch, pulling the boardgame out from under it.

A few hours passed before Endru woke up. He heard the kids going back and forth on a board game they made, the mother cooking some food, and the father was probably out cutting some wood.

He started to chirp, gaining the attention of the kids. "Oh, the little birdy is awake." Jalan noticed, pulling the bird out and setting him on the board. Endru took a little walk around the board, looking at it, before stopping in front of the kids.

He flapped his wings, using them to point at the board, and chirped, 'I want to play!' Although his eyes haven't entirely focused yet due to just waking up, Endru still wanted to join in on the fun with the kids.

"I think he wants to play." Carlyn tried to decipher. Jalan shrugged even though he doesn't think the bird would understand the game; he does not mind the raven playing. "Okay."

Endru chirped happily and picked up a piece, with his beak, that he wanted to play in the game. Jalan and Carlyn were surprised by the intelligence that the bird had shown. They smiled and got to playing with Endru.

Another hour passed before the mother called them to come to eat. They put the stuff down, and Jalan picked up the bird to carry him to the dining table. The mother put down their bowls and Endru's bowl of soup that had creatures meat and vegetables in them.

After that, she gave them spoons, except for the bird, so that they can eat their broth. The kids thanked their mother before eating their food. Sitting down, the mother looked worriedly at the clock, wondering why Jonathon hadn't come back in the house yet.

He would have usually been back at home, with wood for the fireplace and maybe a few lumps of creature meat, if he was met with any along the way. Noticing that the mother kept looking at the clock, Endru stopped eating. He glanced at the time and noticed that the father was not back at his usual time.

So he stood up and started flying out the window. He heard Jalan call his name, and Carlyn asking her mother where he was going. The mother told them to "let it go" that "birds usually go out to fly" and that "he will return."

While he was flying, Endru closed his eyes and used his heightened senses to find the father. It took a few seconds before he found the father's scent surrounded by other people's scents. He quickly flew over to the spot, only to see hunters surrounding the father.

Jonathon had bruises all over him, and he coughed up a bit of blood, only to wipe it away. "You had your fun, now leave my family and me alone."

Five hunters had Jonathon surrounded in a circle, laughing as if he said something funny. One of them kicked him in the stomach, sneering, "You have no right to make demands, trash. We can do whatever we want to you, and no one would blink an eye. My buddies and I are just getting started."

"It is so annoying. We did not have to come over in this dirty town if those stupid creatures did their job last night. Did any of you get the right potion?" Another sighed, looking bored and disgusted.

"Do not start the blame game. We got the right one. It seemed that something else must have killed the creatures off. I saw burned marks in the area we poured it." The one carrying a weird looking sword spoke.

"Who the hell cares? We will finish the job then. After we kill him, then we will kill his family." The one closest to the father answered.

"Why not bring the kids to the slave trade? I know some rich people in need of servants." The last one suggested.

Hearing that, Jonathon tried to escape. They were distracted, and the father silently started to drag his body back into the open space between the hunters. He felt a cough trying to come up and held it back. But the sensation was too powerful, and he ended up coughing, alerting the hunters.

The one closest to the father grabbed him by his hair, pulling it back. Jonathon gritted his teeth, trying not to let a cry out. "Where the hell do you think you are going?"

When Endru saw that they grabbed the father, he dropped down into the bushes near them and started to transform.

"He tried to run. I say we behead him, and finally, be done with this sorry excuse of an ex-hunter."

The one with the sword unsheathed it and started walking towards the father. Jonathon wanted to struggle, but due to his injuries, he couldn't move that well. The hunter pointed the sword at his throat and pushed it deep on his neck.

The hunter drew blood, cruelly smiling at the father. "Hurry already." One of the hunters yelled, getting impatient.

The hunter lifted the sword and was getting ready to swipe down until a figure quickly came onto the scene, grabbing the weapon and breaking it.

Endru dropped the pieces of the sword to the ground. He moved again, pushing the hunter who was holding the father in his grip. Once Jonathon was released, he knocked him out and picked him up, carrying him to a safe area.

Then he made his way back, standing in front of the hunters. "What the hell are you?" One of the hunters asked as he stared at Endru.

Endru's body was that of a teenager. Even though he is one year old in bird years, he ages faster than anything possible. So, by next year, his body would be that of an adult and will not change at all.

He had shoulder-length curly black hair, with two 6-inch horns resting in it. His massive wings were a dark blue that faded into black, while his dragon's tail had dark blue scales. His black nails were sharp, and so were his feet; even the fangs in his mouth were sharp. Even though his torso was bare, black cloth covers his bottom half.

Two hunters moved back, while the others tried to hide their fear by standing their ground. They did not know what that thing was before them. They have never seen anything like this before.

"You silly humans need to learn not to mess with someone under my protection." Endru started, bearing his teeth at them.

They were surprised. For one thing, the weird being could talk, and for another, how could Jonathon find something like this to protect him. "You are lying; admit that he is your prey." One of the hunters bravely spoke out, although he was shaking in his boots.

Endru quickly moved, grabbing the hunter by his throat and lifting him. The other hunters fell to the ground in fear, 'The thing moves too fast,' they all thought. "Do not tell me what I should do, human. You have no jurisdiction over me."

The hunter tried to apologize, but could barely breathe. Endru squeezed harder, breaking his neck. When he heard the snap, he threw the dead hunter to the ground. Then, he looked at the others on the floor that looked close to peeing themselves. He cruelly smiled at them, showing off his sharp fangs.

"I wonder how I will teach all of you your lessons."
