Chapter 62: The knights' oath and a maid's loyalty

I awoke to the sound of the door banging very loudly. The moonlight had already landed its way upon the carpeted floor of my bedroom.

It seems that I had fallen asleep while in the middle of packing my clothes. The wooden trunk wrapped in leather that sat on my bed was half-filled with dresses, tunics, trousers and undergarments. Shire slept soundly on top of the pile of clothes. It was a rather messy sight. I was never really good at packing my stuff.

The person continued to pound on the door.

"Wait a minute!" I yelled as I stood up and walked towards their direction.

When I opened the door, Anette, along with Sir Alaric and Sir Roan stood in front of me. My heart swelled with relief at the sight of them. I'm truly glad that they survived last night's massacre.

I held in the urge to hug my personal maid.

"D-do you need help in packing, young lady?" asked Annette. Her eyes registered concern.

"How did you…?"
