For what it's worth, Anette and the two knights quickly grasped the situation as I told them what I had planned to do. After telling them everything from the Pure Light inside me to the only way of defeating the shadow creatures, they eventually caught on fast.

My personal maid stayed in the rooms that were allocated for the palace servants, while Sir Alaric and Sir Roan settled at the knights' quarters.

I was given a larger room in the Royal Palace, one with pale green walls and ornate silk curtains. The bed had a canopy laden with expensive-looking white fabric.

When I woke up, Shire was nowhere to be found. I brushed it off, knowing that he seemed to know more about this castle than I did. When we arrived here last night, he jumped out of my arm and went just wherever he wanted. Eventually, I found him standing in front of my room after I finished having dinner with the royal family.
