Chapter 39: Numbered Waterfalls

Zack quickly found Ivan upon turning the hallway's corner, and he was carrying a box. It was similar in style to the one they had found on the first floor, though it was a fair bit fancier.

"So, how many coppers are in that box?" Zack asked loudly, revealing his presence to the currently turned around Ivan.

Ivan jumped in response, having been caught off guard. "Shit man, would it kill you to soften your voice a little? What happened to erring on the side of caution?" He then turned around, revealing the corpse he had been inspecting.

It was another guardsmen, and it seemed he went down fighting. In its dried up hand was a broken spear, and on the ground were various pieces of its rusted iron tip.

"Damn, what a way to go. . ." Zack said upon seeing the corpse.

"I'll say, there are even a few more like him in the area too. As for the box, there's about three silver and fifteen coppers inside of it," Ivan said, holding out the box as if it were a trophy.
