Chapter 22: Chapter 20.5 - Misao Gaiden; My Psychopathy

Rural Hokkaidō; in a small house, the deafening sounds of pain was heard.

"I hate you! Let me fucking murder you!" Misao, age fourteen with her pink hair hanging loosely ran in rage holding a cleaver towards her thick built, bald father who held a bottle of beer in his hand. She jumped at him but was disarmed then kicked back straight into the wooden wall, knocking her out. Toramichi Tanakura laughed as he took a big gulp of beer walking away saying, "You can't beat me."

Misao's life was usually like this, her deadbeat father was of pure evil; he drove her mother to suicide with his acts of brutality which Misao witnessed, he often left her to fend for herself while he went out and did cage fighting, for which he was famous in the illegal world for being the best user of the 'drunken fist' style of martial arts and used most of the huge sums of money on himself. Everytime Misao's rage erupted from the painful memories along with being treated so terribly, she tried to physically reprimand him and each time this was this result.

She recovered from the ordeal with a jolting headache, getting up from off the ground she staggered to a table, she regained her balance and looked around at the deplorable state of her life and came to a conclusion, "That's it! I'm gonna get stronger and definitely kill that guy just like he killed Mom!" with utmost determination, she gathered her small number of belongings and set out to gain power.

She searched for hours, begging all the dojos around the town to train her but they all saw psychotic reasons for strength and pushed her away. Misao couldn't take the rejection anymore so she started to walk back home, her sad disgrace of a father wouldn't be home for a while so she would be safe for now at least, she thought of stealing books on martial arts and studying them but her chain of thought was halted by a warm hand landing on her shoulder.

Turning around she saw a bulky, tall woman smiling at her; "I see what you're going though, I went through the same and I sought strength as well." the woman's eyes were tainted with the blood of many victims which was eerily covered with a warm smile, her short hair had a dark grey colour and her body was toned to perfection from years of training.

Misao somewhat saw herself in this woman and gained a small sense of trust for her, which was greatly enhanced when she offered to train her so she would be able to finish what she started. The woman introduced herself as Shi then led Misao away from her terrible life to a mountain with a one hand operated dojo on the other side of the country in an attempt to make it better.

They later arrived after an hour's journey to the peak of the mountain, the dojo was built with ancient Edo period architecture and had cherry blossom trees growing around it, "let's go inside, you look like you need a good meal so after that we'll get to business."

A hearty meal was prepared for Misao who dug in like a hungry pig, devouring everything in a matter of minutes, Shi laughed as she wiped the scraps of food from Misao's face and with a full stomach she was ready to begin, her body type was noticed and Shi assigned her the 'kung fu' fighting style to fit her muscular build, then ki manipulation was learned.

Everyday the grew closer, not only as master and student but as mother and child, she was the first person Misao could trust in a long time since her mother and it made her feel an emotion she hasn't felt since then: happiness.

Her training went well as she was a natural at fighting, Shi was impressed as to how quickly she mastered all the strikes of the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac along with the many other moves associated with the kung fu style. When they weren't training they were either having fun under the cherry blossoms or getting an education, Shi took up all the roles in Misao's life that were left unattended over the years and for that she was eternally grateful.

***

Two years since their encounter, Misao was fully versed in martial arts and academic topics, her body had been greatly strengthened by all the physical training and her brain with the training of the mind; "Well, I can say that I'm proud of you." Shi gave Misao a warm hug that brought tears to both their eyes, Misao was the daughter Shi never had and Shi was the mother and father Misao never had. They set off once more to take care of Misao's issue: Toramichi

During the journey back, Shi assured that Misao was able to go all out and kill him since she would be able to pull some strings and make it seem like it never happened, this lifted some of the load off her back.

They soon arrived at Misao's home town, upon entering her old house, her deadbeat father was slumped on the floor looking drunk and carefree, "hey! you know I swore you went and killed yourself that that stupid mother of yours, guess you're still alive huh," he rose and taunted her, "who's this chick? she's fine!"

Shi gave off a surge of killing intent but stopped herself from attacking, saying it was Misao's fight.

Toramichi continued to taunt them both, with comments of sarcastic joy and sexual passes making Misao's anger reach it's peak. She released her berserk ki and bolted towards him 「Dragon Fang!」 a loud, booming blow was delivered to his stomach that sent him flying into the wall, she didn't let up one bit and continued, brutally attacking him 「Viper Strike!」a flurry of attacks broke his skin and bones, blood splattered all over the room until she finally took his life when she took a half clench of her fist and smashed his abdomen in using her palm with the 「Tiger Claw!」

Seeing his deformed, mercilessly destroyed body laying there twitching made Misao's head swell, she laughed devilishly as she rubbed her bloody hands over her face, "I killed him! I killed him!" her psychotic happiness went through the roof and Shi stood there watching.

She ended her chant of happiness when Shi tapped her shoulder, telling her that she did a good job and that the next day this incident would be erased from time; she hugged Misao one more and congratulated her. She offered for them to live together which was accepted instantly, and as they walked out of Misao's brutal past, Shi had one thing to say that would be branded on her forever.

"You did good today, we both know your a psychopath, so am I but…we won't be like the rest. We'll be psychopaths on the side of good."
