Chapter 4: Chapter-4: Salty
Salty.
The wind tasted salty.
"Why do the Gulls circle the beach but never land, father?", a little boy-no more than 10- asked the shabbily dressed man beside him. They were on the beach, with fair sandy banks and the quite rustle of the water as it crashed onto the land. There was no other person in sight.
"Its because they are afraid what will the people on the ground do to them so they don't try to rest on the ground.", he softly spoke with a simple, monotonous smile on his face. The boy suddenly felt cold.
Fear.
The man removed his hat, and scratched his head, "Listen here kid, when you'll grow up you are gonna be a lot like these Gulls here. But you are gonna be strong okay, and you are gonna do just fin-"
"Wake up"

I woke up in a cold sweat and pain instantly overcame all of my body. I jerked to the side of the bed, blood vomiting out of my mouth. The thick black fluid, making a big puddle by the bed side. Mustering all my courage I got up and walked towards the bathroom.
Yeasr was dead, I hadn't reported that in yet. Nor the fact that I may have encountered two mutants Grade-C(or above) spatial abilities(Could be anything else though). Not dying takes priority over everything.
I slowly walked over to the cabinet in the bathroom and pulled a vial filled with pink pills. Marked "Listogam", nicknamed by it's users as 'The Canon' because of its property of kicking in hard and fast, it is one of "the" most potent pain-killer in existence, not at all recommend to normal humans. But why do I care?
I quickly unscrewed the cap and took 2 pills, and then began the laborious process of changing the bandages. I was pretty well beaten up, I had lost a ton of blood, there was a huge hole in my right thigh from where a metal pole had gotten in to say fuckin 'hello!'
Sorry about that.
I survived that fall, due to pure skill. Okay, little bit of skill and mostly pure luck.
I switched on the radio that was in my room as I made my way towards the wardrobe, switching my contact phone on and redialing a random number. In the background the radio was playing an old romance song.
"Some day I'll take you away, away, far beyond,-"
Someone picked up the call on the other end.
"Hi, Is Drew available right now?"
"Sorry kid, Drews not here right now. Here I'll message you his alternative."-click.
I don't understand why these guy's even try to be human. Even an idiot can find out that this conversation was all fake. I mean why, why embarrass yourself?
The phone buzzed and I quickly copied the number in the message and put the phone in speaker mode, tossing it on the bed while I dug through the closet to find a clean shirt.
"Even by the standard of all your previous failures, you really messed this one up Zero.", the hoarse voice spoke.
"There were mutants there X, two of them."
Awkward silence. So even the great X can be stunned.
"We Didn't dispatch any Mutants. Specifically not one's with B Class abilities."*Click.
So they did send mutants, those.....
atleast someone in the Order did. Considering that Yeasr was an convert maybe, just maybe, he knew something that was problematic for someone.
Interesting. Worth investigating.
Buttoning up my shirt, I scrolled through my phonebook, until I reached 'Sol'. I quickly pressed the dial button and started looking for a pair of pant. I found two of those.
"Yes?", a distorted voice.
"Et noctem: non consurgent," I spoke as calmly as possible.
"Omnia vincet solis", the distorted voice spoke followed by a loud beep as the line was transferred.
"Long time no hear, Captain?," a cheerful squeaky voice.
"True Ores, but then I left the ops team remember?", It felt good to hear a friendly voice. Ores had been one of the most trusted companion I had, ever.
"Listen Ores, I need a favor. I am gonna send you a guy's name- he's dead don't worry about that part- I want you to find anything about him related to the Order, Blackguards or the Royalty- all of the countries and keep it quiet, I don't want X or any other of the managers to know about this."
"Don't worry, we can keep it quiet."*click.
What's with the people hanging up on my face and 'we'?
Oh fuck. He's gonna contact the whole fucking team.
Like I need another problem in my list.
I quickly threw on my pant, and checked my watch,0614-I have enough time- walked over to the cabinet in the bathroom and gently removed it. Behind it were the packet from the day before. I quickly took it out, removed a vial and reversed the process- you won't ever realise that there is a compartment behind the cabinet after I was done.
The vial was labelled "Vaqt" with a greenish-blue liquid inside. It almost looked like a Turquoise except liquid and a bit glowing. Truth to be told, I was hesitant about this. Either it was a new bioweapon or a new ability enhancer. There was a remote possibility of poision, but who gives a 7 day course of poision? Whatever this was, this was a well kept secret, there wasn't much that I didn't knew about the Order, at least I thoight that was true.
In the end I took the syringe gun, loaded the bottle and jabbed it into my left thigh, emptying the whole vial in one shot. I emptied the gun, fumbled with the vial bottle, threw it in the sink, vomited some fluids and passed out on the floor.

(I mean, I am under so much stuff. My twine game is coming up, I am joining 2 game jams and I am gonna start college so thats why this chapter is about 2 months late)
I ma try to write and put out a chapter every 2 days.
