After the assassination of Brandon and his group, chaos spread all over Westeros. No one knew what was going to happen next. Fear and doubt covered all Westeros. Even the Smallfolks knew that there was something wrong.
At this time in the Eyrie, Edward was here to take control of the situation. Plus, he had a lot to discuss with the three people in front of him. It was finally the time to make Stormsland independent with him as the Stormking. The was that Edward was waiting for all this time was finally in front of his eyes.
After Jon heard the news about the assassination, he gathered the three of them with the lords he trusted from the Vale. He wanted to discuss the situation with them. He was ready to raise his banners against the Targaryen. Jon was heartbroken by the news of his nephew's death and could not bear with such a thing. At this moment, the Vale was without an heir, so how could he meet his ancestors.
Edward's men worked with Tywin and Hoster Tully's spies in spreading all this news around Westeros. They wanted to raise unrests all over Westeros. Many lords decided not to involve themselves in the upcoming battles. The others were afraid, especially after knowing that the brother of Lord Baratheon was among the group.
Jon looked at everyone in the room then his sight landed on his three wards. He did not know what to say to Ned as Ned was the most pitiful one here. Rhaegar kidnapped his sister then the king burnt his father alive. Not long after, Ned's brother was also burnt alive by the king's orders. As for Robert and Edward, although Jon knew that the brothers did not have a good relationship with each other, Renly did not deserve to die young in his eyes.
"What are you going to do from now on?" Asked Jon as he looked at the three of them by he was asking Edward this question. Since Edward was the one who had prepared to rebel against the Targaryen long ago, his opinion was the most effective.
"I will go North and call my bannermen." Said Ned with red eyes. Edward really pitied him at the moment. It seemed after Lady Stark had heard the news, she fainted and did not wake up since then. Ned lost his father, brother, sister, and almost his mother in a matter of a month.
Although Edward found Ned pitiful at the moment, Edward did not regret anything. What was Ned good for if Edward did not know how to use him? Yeah, they were friends. But when it came to his benefits, friends would be of no use to him.
"What about you, Robert?" Asked Jon as he looked at Robert. Robert could not do anything in his eyes as his decision would depend on his brother's decision. Robert could not call Stormsland's banners, could he?
Robert did not say anything and looked at his brother. He was angry at the moment. His love, Lyanna, was kidnapped, and Robert could not do anything. He could only see his brother make the final decision. If Edward said anything else, what could he do? This feeling of helplessness was heavy on his heart.
"I will fight." Said Robert with determination. He was telling his brother that he would fight if he decided against it. But since he knew Edward's plans, he knew that his brother would not miss this situation.
Jon looked at Edward as he was the key here. Jon did not receive the king's order to catch the Baratheons and Stark's boys yet.
"You all knew what I am going to do, so there is no need to look at me like that. But before anything else, there are somethings that we need to discuss. If we were able to take down the Targaryen, who would be the king?" Asked Edward as he looked at Jon. They should not start a rebellion without knowing what they would do after they succeeded or failed. Plans had to be made during times like this.
Everyone in the hall looked at each other as they were speechless at the moment. They did not even raise their armies, and Edward was asking them something like that. What if they failed and they all died at the end.
"What do you have in mind, Edward?" Asked Jon as he looked at Edward. Edward must have prepared an answer, or he would not say something like that.
Edward looked at everyone present in the room and then turned back to Jon. He gave his brother a look before he started to speak.
"I think all of you knew that the Baratheons are the closest to the Targaryen at the moment. So, I think one of us should take the position of the king." Said Edward getting weird looks from everyone. It was as if Edward said to hand everything to him, but they did not object as if Edward was to become the king, everything would turn fine.
Jon looked at Edward with some thoughts. He did not expect Edward to demand to be the king as he thought Edward was content with Stormsland. That was what Edward had always told him.
"You want to be the king, Edward?" Asked Jon so that he could be certain of what he thought. Edward said that the Baratheons are the closest to the Iron Throne and not himself.
Edward looked at Jon as if he was looking at an idiot. Edward would prefer to live in hell than King's Landing. He did not like the idea of entertaining the other great houses and the other lords. Plus, everyone would have some schemes around him. So, even if he knew what happened to Robert, he was not sure that his life would not end in that place. Edward preferred to kill everyone from the dark without no one knowing what he did. Just like this time, he ordered to burn Brandon, Elbert, and Renly, and no one knew that he was the one he did this.
If Edward became the king, everyone's eyes would be on him, and he would not have the ability to control anyone, especially the Lannisters, as Tywin had many spies there. Plus, Tywin might even demand him to take Cersei as his main wife. But if he had only Stormsland to take care of at the moment, he was sure that he would take control of it well.
"No, I do not want something like that. Since Robert had no position in Stormsland, he could become the king of the six kingdoms with you, Lord Arryn, as his hand. Here is what we have to agree on so there would be no conflicts between us." Said Edward as he passed a piece of paper to Lord Arryn so he could read it. This piece of paper contained all that Edward was going to do during the Rebellion.
