Chapter 7: The calm before the storm.
I spent a while cleaning tables, polishing glasses y sweeping floors with Lea, during that time I talked with her about work and other stuff of no importance.
-Good, seems like everything is done, lets go to the dining room and wait for the food!

Finally, food!
When we came out of the kitchen all the maids were already taking a seat around the tables, speaking with each other. It didn´t take long before a group of people dressed like chefs arrived and entered the kitchen.
-V-Very well newbie, I´ll go to my seat, wait with Molly until they bring the food.
-... Sure.
The lack of enthusiasm when she said that was weird, even though Lea was smiling, something felt wrong.
Guess I´ll see something interesting soon.
I took a seat in an empty place along with other maids.
Noticing my presence, some of them approached me.
-Hey, is it true that yesterday was an actuation?
-Well... I was in a desperate situation, so I had to improvise a little.
-What about Molly? Did something happen between you?
-I just asked her to take me to the library to read something.
-Did you talk about something else? Something personal?

It had seemed strange to me the enthusiasm that the maids reflected in their eyes, the fact that they asked about Molly and me together confirmed my suspicions.
-Forgive that I answer with another question but... What did Molly tell you about me?
The maids looked at each other for some seconds before responding to me with a smile.
-That you were a liar, pervert, and a brute.

-Miss Molly is almost unperturbable, but when she arrived at the dorms she was yelling this and that, I think that she never showed so openly her emotions before, or at least not in a long time.

I was without words, to think that despite all the shit Molly said about me, her colleagues were acting like teenagers anxious for gossip, I was going to have a word or two with that cat later.
Guess it´s a blessing that none of them hate me.
Fortunately, Molly had arrived at the dining room, making the maids end their session of questions to my person.

I had put my hand on her shoulder while saying that, I could almost see a sign of interrogation floating above her head when Molly replied to me.
-Whatever, let´s just eat, I'm starving.
The chefs had arrived with several pots and pans to serve the food, I wasn´t sure what was each thing, but after taking a bite more or less I assimilated them with dishes from the earth.
There was corn cream with bread, Cesar salad with a fish fillet, and some sauteed vegetables with rice and soy sauce.
-Hmm, the food is better than I expected, not bad.
-Lots of dishes were brought by the previous heroes, leaving the recipes made the locals of food increase, making the capital one of the places with the best gastronomy in the world.
-Well, al least they left some good stuff, eh.
As I ate with Molly and other maids, I couldn´t help to notice that we were the only ones taking breakfast. I couldn´t find the group of heroes anywhere, just a few knights and mages were around.
-By the way, Molly, What time is it?
-6:20
-Aren´t you going to wake up the heroes?
-At 8:30 someone will wake them up.
-... At what time did you wake me up?
-5 a.m., like all the other servants.

No wonder we are the only ones.
-Dam it, I hate waking up early. I whispered to myself.

I spent my breakfast talking with some maids beside Molly, all of them had a good positive opinion about her, they looked at her as a leader who was worth following, they undoubtedly respected her, I could even say that some admire her.
You´ve got lots of expectations on you Molly.... How annoying.
It was obvious that Molly tried to accomplish those expectations with great effort, she was quick on her tasks and also helped other maids to finish theirs. They also told me that every time that there was a fight among the servants, Molly would bring them to an agreement quickly.
-And tell me, In what Molly fails?
-Eh? Umm... The truth is that I can´t think of a time that she has failed in something, Miss Molly is perfect in all senses! Said a maid with stars instead of eyes.
-... I see, there is no doubt that she is admirable eh.

The maids kept telling me about the feats of Molly for another while, eventually, Molly called me to continue with the work.
I said my goodbyes to the maids and head to the exit.
While we were walking, I noticed that Lea was at a table alone, she didn´t seem particularly sad, but she also didn´t have her childish smile of always.
I think I just noticed something problematic once more.
Lea was being outcast by her work colleagues, just Molly talked to her, and I wasn´t sure if it was by her own will or by work.
Sooner than later, Molly went with Lea, me walking aside her.
-Lea, come with us, you will help with the garden.
-Eh, ah, Yes boss!
For a moment she showed herself surprised, her eyes wandered around a bit, but she came back to her senses fast. The 3 of us exit the dining room and walked some floors up.
You have electric magical stoves, But not a fucking elevator?
I was quite frustrated with the architect that built this absurdly big castle.
After an eternity of climbing steps, a wooden door surrounded by flowers came into view, the sings of the superior right side had the symbol of a rose.
Molly opened the door and a beautiful garden assaulted my eyes. The smell of the flowers filled my lungs as the trees danced with the wind, the emerald grass was craking with our steps and the sun shined brightly over our heads.
A lovely white kiosk was in the center, two benches and a table were inside.
Shit... I want to stay here forever.
Molly grabbed a couple of watering cans and gave them to us.
-Fill them up and water the flowers, Lea, est part, Roberto will do west and south, I´ll do north.
-Roger boss!
-Why do I have more work than you? I asked angry.
-You´re a gentleman, Aren´t you? Sure you won´t let a pair of girls get tired of overwork, Right?

She had said that with such a smug smile that I almost lifted my middle finger to her face.
I filled the watering can and proceeded to water the flowers as ordered.
The flowers had typical forms, like roses, orchids, or margaritas, the flashy colors were never of my taste, but I liked them in flowers, I wasn´t sure why, it simply felt more natural.
While watering the flowers I gave a couple of glances at Lea, she looked quite happy, didn´t had her childish smile, but she seemed to be at peace with herself, it was a relaxing and weird sight.
Once we finished with the flowers, Molly gave us garden scissors and taught us how to cut bushes and trees.
We passed the time doing gardening work, during that time I talked to both girls about unimportant things, making jokes here and there, it was fun.
When we were done with the bushes, trees, and flowers, Molly took us to the kiosk, inside it, there were a big amount of flowers and some empty flowerpots highly refined, normal-sized scissors and bows were also on the table.
-It´s time for the floral arrangements, pay attention to what I do so you can do it later.
-Do I have to learn this?
-Yes.

-Ehehe, Miss Molly has always been rough when it comes to teaching. Said Lea with an ironic smile.
-Oh? If remember correctly you can´t make the floral arrangements yet, Isn´t that right Lea?

I never thought that I would learn how to do floral arrangements in another world, but this was better than fighting with monsters and demons, so I just did what I was asked to.
I failed many times cutting the sprouts, I broke the ribbons and I wasn´t able to keep the flowers in their place. Molly scolded me for that, Lea laughed shamelessly at my misses, even though she committed the same.
-You laugh a lot despite committing the same mistakes, Lea.
-Hahaha! Sorry, sorry! I´m just happy to know that I´m not the only one bad at this.
-... Don´t be glad about something like that. Said Molly exasperated.

We had a good time with that, the sun was pleasant and the breeze of the wind refreshing.
Hope it´s always this calm.
Deep in my heart, I wished that this tranquility never ended.
The was just one problem.
And it was a tree.
