Chapter 2: Chapter 1- Flashing Lights

"Yeosang please don't go." The princess says as she watches her brother pack up his bags. It's late at night and the rest of the castle is asleep, except for the royal twins.

"Kiyeon, I don't want to leave you or Taehyun but there's no reason for me to stay." The brunette says looking over at her. "I can't become king, and father doesn't care what I do." He says as a sigh escapes his lips and he sits next to her. "I'll miss you so much." He says softly and puts his arm around her.

A few tears fall from the girl's eyes as she wraps her arms around his waist. "I love you so much." She says softly as she rests her head on his chest. Being only 5'5, shes pretty short compared to most guys in the kingdom.

"I love you too. I'll keep in touch, I promise. And the amulet I gave you, it will let you know if I'm okay." He says gently, before reaching up and taking the stone around his neck in his hands. The twin amulets was something he had asked the castle mage to help him create so he could make sure his sister is safe while hes gone.

The princess reaches her hand up to clasp the stone hanging from her neck and she nods. She feels her brother move away and watches as he picks up his bag. "Be safe." She says looking up at him. He nods with a smile before quietly leaving their room, closing the door after him.

Kiyeon watches the door close and wipes her tears from her face. She looks down at the stone and holds it close but notices it starts to pulse. "Yeosang?" She says softly as she looks back at her closed bedroom door before everything goes black.

Her grey eyes open as she quickly sits up. Tears stain her cheeks as she brushes some of her brown hair behind her ear. Her room is dark, probably just before midnight. She takes a breath and holds the stone around her neck.

She looks down at it to confirm it's still pulsing. It's been two years since Yeosang sent his last letter and the stone had started to pulse a few days ago.

She looks over to the other bed in the room and gets up. Yeosangs old bed.

"We did everything together. You helped me and guided me.. But you just had to leave." She says softly and sits on his bed. She looks over to the bag she has prepared on the floor. In only a few hours she will leave as well.

"I have to find him." She tells herself as she stands and heads to her wardrobe. She puts on a simple outfit that she asked a maid to buy for her. Not allowed to leave the castle she has had to ask others for help.

Her personal maid, Linwea has been a great help. She knows that the princess has never felt as if she belongs and has helped her prepare an escape plan.

Kiyeon, or should we say, princess Sooyeon has always been difficult. Born to a soldier in her father's army and a maid she ended up adopted and raised by the queen. The king however never wanted a daughter and hated the fact that she did everything a princess shouldn't. She hates poetry, she hates dancing, she hates parties. She would sneak out at night to practice sword fighting, she loves archery, and loves exploring. Just like her adopted twin. But unlike him Kiyeon also has a facination with music and singing but has never been allowed to sing. After she snuck out one night the king forbade her to leave the walls of the castle. And if she was to even go into the garden she had to be accompanied by a guard for fear of her sneaking away.

A sigh escapes her lips as she puts her hair up and pulls her jacket close to her body. "I can do this." She says to herself.

"Are you really leaving?" A voice says as the bedroom door opens. She turns to see her younger brother looking at her sadly.

"Taehyun. I have to find him. The necklace hasn't stopped pulsing for days now. He's in trouble." She says gently as he shuts the door and walks over to her. He may be a few years younger but he is still taller.

She pulls him into a tight hug. "I love you so much. But not only do I need to find him, but I need to find my own path. I'm not cut out to be a princess." She says softly into his chest.

The young prince, soon to be king, nods. He pulls away and looks at her. "When you find him. Please write." He says gently as a few tears fall from his eyes.

"I promise." She says wiping away his tears and kissing his cheek. She pulls away from him and picks up her bag. She sheaths the hunting knives onto the holsters on her thighs. She picks up the sword she stole from the armory and straps it to her belt. Lastly she picks up a gun from her dresser. She makes sure it's loaded before putting it into its holster as well. She hugs her brother one last time before leaving the room. She sneaks through the halls, having memorized the guards nightly routes she easily sneaks out of the castle.

Hiding in the shadows she makes it to the wall. She walks next to it towards the door. She slowly turns the handle, but finds it's locked. "Shit." She mutters and grabs some lock picks she has stored in her bag. Another skill she picked up after being locked in her room many times over by the king. She chuckles at the memory.

"You are staying in there until you can learn to behave Sooyeon!" The King's voice shouts as she hears him lock her bedroom door.

"I'll just pick the lock again! You can't keep me in here forever!" She shouts back and kicks the locked door.

"I'll let you out once you start acting like a princess." He says before walking away.

"I'm not even a princess! And my name isn't Sooyeon!”’ She yells angrily and gets to work on picking the lock.

She hears the door click as it's unlocked. A smirk plays onto her lips as she opens the door and slips outside of the castle walls. She sneaks off towards the village carefully at first, but then runs at a full sprint. 'Free! I'm finally free!' She thinks as she sees the village getting closer. She slows her gait and arrives as she walks around cautiously.

She looks down at the stone hidden by her shirt. It's still pulsing. She lets her hair down and walks to the nearest inn and goes inside. "I'd like a room for the night." She says keeping her eyes low.

The innkeeper nods and asks for "ten silver coins."

Kiyeon reaches into her bag and pulls out a single gold coin. "Keep it" She says as she takes the key to the room and heads towards it.

Once inside the room she locks the door and sits at the desk inside. From her bag she pulls out some old maps, and Yeosangs old letters.

Dear Kiyeon. I'm doing well. I joined a pirate crew a few months ago, that's why I haven't been writing as much. They are all really nice and I'm the navigator now. We have stopped near Shore islands, that's why I'm able to write this. We will be heading towards the Southern Kingdoms next. So it will be a few months until I can even send a message again. I love you so much baby sis.

-Yeosangie

"The Southern Kingdoms." She says and looks at the map. Before he left, Yeosang had taught her a bit about navigation but she still struggles. She looks to where she is and draws a line towards the Southern Kingdoms. "That's so far. It would take months to get there by ship. Where am I gonna get a ship?" She asks herself.

She leans back in her chair and looks over at the mirror. She stands and walks up to it. "I need to change my hair. I don't want any search parties to come after me." She says running a hand through her brown locks.

"I'll worry about it in the morning once shops are open." She says with a yawn and falls onto the bed, quickly falling asleep unaware that the stone around her neck has stopped flashing, but is just a consistent glow. Yeosang is safe.

"Lay back down! If you don't I'll knock you out." The tall surgeon with black hair commands and pushes the boy down as gently as he can without hurting him more.

The boy on the table groaned in pain but complied to his Hyungs orders.

"Wooyoung. You were brave, but stupid." The captain says walking in and looking at the boy with purple hair.

"Apologies captain." He mutters as the surgeon works on extracting the bullet from the boy's side.

"He'll be okay.. right Seonghwa?" The captain asks looking at the surgeon.

"Yes Hongjoong. Our young master gunner won't go down without a fight. A single bullet won't kill him." The oldest jokes lightly and starts to clean the wound, causing the gunner to yell out in pain. At his cries, a boy with green hair rushes in. "Wooyoung." He starts to say but Hongjoong grabs his arm, stopping him from going closer.

"San-ah. He'll be okay. How's the Treasure doing?" He asks the carpenter.

"All holes have been patched up. But we lost a lot of supplies and food in that raid. We will have to restock sometime this week." He says looking down at the captain. "The closest place I think is the Southern Kingdoms." He adds.

Hongjoong nods "we will head there. But it won't be a long stay." He says before exiting the sick bay. He goes into his room to see the navigator working hard at the desk, maps sprawled out around him.

"Yeosang-ah. Can we plot a course for the Southern Kingdoms? It should be the closest to our location." He says sitting on his bed. He runs a hand through his long hair as he looks at the blonde.

Yeosang turns and looks at him with a smile. "Of course captain. How is Wooyoung-ah doing?" He asks as he turns back to the maps surrounding him.

"If that bullet was any higher it would've collapsed a lung. But Seonghwa-hyung says that he'll make a full recovery." The captain says and takes his jacket off before laying back on his bed.

The young navigator nods and finishes mapping the course. "I'll go give this to Mingi-ah. You should get some sleep." He says standing and looking over at Hongjoongs bed to see the captain has already fallen asleep. A chuckle escaped his lips and he tossed a blanket over their sleepy captain.

"Sleep well Hyung." He says before leaving the room and going up to the deck where the first mate, Mingi, is steering the ship.

"Captain is having us go to the Southern Kingdoms again as it's closest." He says standing next to his friend remembering the last time they visited the kingdom. San was so excited to see his family again and told them about his adventures. There Yeosang has dyed his hair blonde to fit the style of the rest of the crew. That was 2 years ago. 'I need to dye my hair again' he thinks before feeling a nudge from the taller first mate. "Oh, Head south east." He says.

Mingi nods. "Alright. Southern Kingdoms, here we come." He says looking at his compass and steers the ship in the right direction.
