Chapter 36: Chapter 36

The dim light of the moon cast a shadow over Pier 81 as a dark figure was perched on top of a large warehouse. Dressed in a dark uniform and dark metallic armor decorated with a silver skull on the chest plate, Frank watched through the T shape visor of his helmet as several men patrolled the top deck of a large ship.

"I guess that's the one then." Frank whispered softly as he watched a group of men haul crates off the ship. His eyes locked onto one man in particular giving orders to the rest of the crew.

"I'm not seeing anyone else in the vicinity outside of those on that ship." Thomas's voice came over the internal comm systems of Frank's helmet.

"From what we can tell, every man on that ship is a criminal responsible for multiple acts of violence. You don't need to worry about innocents getting caught in the middle." Sarah stated as a multitude of small boxes appeared on the heads up display next to every face Frank saw. A list of crimes appeared next to each person that Frank focused on as he stood up.

Frank looked down as a pair of men walked along the side of the warehouse. He took a step off the edge of the roof and fell towards the ground as the jets on his pack flared to life to slow his descent. The two men stopped in their tracks as the sounds of thrusters came from above. The two men looked up just in time to see Frank's boots smash into their faces as kicked them into the ground. He rolled forward from the drop and swiftly rose to his feet before quickly firing two shots from his suppressed rifle into both of their skulls. Frank sprinted in between the nearby shipping containers as he noticed the other men stop in their tracks at the sound of his gunfire.

"The fuck was that? Who's shooting shit?" One of the men on the ship asked as he raised his shotgun. The other men followed his example as they dropped whatever they were holding and drew their weapons.

"Hey boss? I think we- AGH!" The man attempted to call over his radio when suddenly a small dart pierced through his radio, tearing it from his hand and pinning it against the ship. He looked in the direction the dart came from only to watch as all of the lights around the pier flicker and go dark. Several men reached for their flashlights as they attempted to illuminate their surroundings. Cones of light passed back and forth until one man caught sight of a dark figure kneeling on top of a stack of shipping containers.

"Oh shi-" The man attempted to speak only to be cut short as a crack filled the air and his skull exploded. The other men dived into cover as more gunfire tore through the air. Several men fired blindly over their cover in the hopes of hitting their assailant as others stood up only to be gunned down before they could even fire a single round. Stray rounds flattened and shattered against Frank's armor as he continued to fire down at the criminals hiding behind parts of the ship. He emptied the last rounds in his magazine before he drew a shotgun and dropped down from the shipping containers.

Frank marched onto the deck of the ship as he fired his weapon at two men peeking out of their cover. The group of men scrambled towards the door leading inside the ship as Frank continued to fire into their group. They pushed through the door as they fired back at Frank only for their rounds to splash harmlessly against the silver skull on his armor. Footsteps echoed through the corridor as Frank stalked through the ship, his visor automatically adjusting to his surroundings as he could clear see the men running away.

A pulse emitted from his helmet highlighting the outlines of several people on his heads up display. Several men appeared to be crouched along the wall of a room on his right pointing their weapons at the door. Frank looked down to see the outlines of the rest of the group running deeper into the ship and meeting up with a different group coming up from below. Frank pulled a small spherical object from the back of his belt as he approached the door.

"Who is this guy?" A man whispered quietly as his hands shook uncontrollably while aiming his weapon at the door.

"Shut up! You're going to let him know where we are!" The man next to him growled. Suddenly the slight sound of creaking metal attracted their attention back to the door. Someone immediately panicked as they started to open fire causing a chain reaction as everyone in the room followed suit. Rounds splintered against the door and surrounding walls as yelling filled the air. In a matter of seconds the walls were filled with dozens dents and holes from the gunfire before the group stopped to reload. As the men struggled to reload in a hurry they noticed a metallic baseball like object rolling towards them from the door. As the ball rotated on the floor they saw a small blinking red light that seemed to be blinking faster with each moment.

"Oh…fuck." One man said blankly as suddenly the ball light up the room with a blinding light before erupting in a ball of fire that consumed everything in the room. Frank ran towards the stairs as flames tore through the door of the room behind him and turned the walls of the ship a glowing orange. Frank made his way deeper into the ship as another pulse highlighted the other group who were now making their way back up towards him. He raised his shotgun as he continued to make his way towards the final stairwell leading towards the bottom deck. Light filled the stairs as Frank saw the group climbing towards him.

As soon as the flashlights illuminated his form Frank opened fire on the crowd. The pellets of his shotgun tore through the faces of the first three men who were unlucky enough to lead the charge. The rest quickly stumbled back down the stairs as they yelled and screamed in a panic.

"It's just one man! Fucking kill him!" One man cried out from the back of the group. With his augmented vision Frank easily caught sight of a scarred but familiar face barking out orders.

"Gosnell!" Frank roared, his voice echoing through the corridors as he fired at the group. The blast tore open the chest of a man in front of the group, throwing his body into the rest of the small crowd and knocking several of them to the ground. Frank stormed down the stairs as they struggled to their feet before he fired again and forced them to dive behind the various tables and pallets stacked with drugs.

"Where's Schoonover!?" Frank yelled out as he loaded extra shells into his weapon before quickly drawing a handgun to shoot a man that peeked over his cover.

"Shit. Is that you Frank? Been a long time hasn't it?" Gosnell yelled out from behind the flipped over desk he used as cover. He carefully pulled out a small cylindrical object through a hole in the bottom drawer of the desk. He squeezed the object tightly as he pulled the ring out from the top and picked up his uzi before peeking slightly around the side of the desk. Immediately he retracted his head as the wood splintered next to it and the wall in front of him was riddled with lead pellets.

"Where is he Gosnell?!" Frank yelled as he continued shooting the remaining men as he slowly made his way towards Gosnell. Frank's display emitted another pulse as it highlighted the last two men next to Gosnell. He could easily make out the object in Gosnell's hand as he quickly rolled behind a nearby crate of drugs just in time to see the object Frank recognized as a flashbang come flying over the desk. His visor flashed red as it highlighted the flashbang and immediately darkened his display just in time for the grenade to erupt in a blinding light and deafening noise.

Gosnell and the remaining two men rose out of cover to open fire at Frank's previous position before stopping seconds later. The three men exchange a look with each other before Gosnell motioned for them to move forward. The men cautiously stepped out of cover, using their flashlights to illuminate the dark interior as they advanced through the room. After scanning the entire room only to see the bodies of their companions, the two men turned back to look at Gosnell.

"Well? Where is he?" Gosnell asked as he lowered his weapon. The two men stood unresponsive as they stared in his direction, their faces only slightly illuminated by the flashlights in their hands that were directed towards him.

"Why are you just standing there?! And stop shining those goddamn lights in my face!" Gosnell shouted as he raised a hand to cover his eyes as he turned his head to the side. In that very instance he caught sight of a dark metallic boot in the corner of his eye before he quickly spun around and attempted to raise his weapon. A hand shot out and ripped the gun from his grasp as another hand latched onto his throat before slamming him onto the overturned desk. The two men snapped out of their daze and opened fire at the dark figure only for them to watch as their rounds flattened against the dark metal.

Gosnell looked on in shock as Frank took the impact of every round with nothing but a minor shake before he returned fire with the uzi he took from him. He listened to the sounds of screaming as rounds tore into the body of his men before he heard two loud thumps accompanied by the click of an empty gun. Frank pulled Gosnell in close as he tossed the empty uzi aside, his helmet only slightly illuminated by a flashlight that rolled along the deck. Gosnell stared wide eyed into Frank's dark visor where he saw saw nothing but the familiar reflection of his disfigured face.

"Where is he?" Frank growled in Gosnell's face. Gosnell gritted his teeth as he lunged forward, smashing his forehead against the front of Frank's helmet. Blood trickled down the center of his face as he recoiled from the impact before looking into the dark visor.

"Just kill me. I'm not telling you shit." Gosnell spat out the blood running down his face onto Frank's helmet. Frank slammed him back into the desk, cracking the wood and driving splinters into Gosnell's back as he groaned.

"He should've just let me kill you instead of trusting those worthless sacks of shit." Gosnell said with a snarl as his hand reached behind his back. Frank quickly shifted his head to the side as Gosnell pulled a knife from behind his back and stabbed it towards his neck. Frank grabbed the knife just before it could reach his throat and redirected it into Gosnell's shoulder. Frank smashed the hilt of the knife, driving it deeper through Gosnell's shoulder and pinning him to the desk as he yelled in pain.

"Fuck! Go ahead then! Kill me!" Gosnell shouted as Frank twisted the knife before looking him over. Frank pulled a phone from Gosnell's pocket and held it up in front of him as his other hand kept Gosnell pinned in place. Gosnell watched as Frank pulled a thin wire from his gauntlet that quickly changed to match the port on his phone and plugged it in.

"What are you doing? What the fuck are you doing?!" Gosnell yelled out as he struggled in Frank's grasp. Frank pressed a button on the underside of his gauntlet as he looked at Gosnell.

"Taking what I need." Frank answered in Gosnell's voice as he drew his handgun. Gosnell looked at him with wide eyes as Frank pointed the gun at his forehead.

"One shot, one kill. Just like Schoonover taught us." Frank said in Gosnell's voice. Gosnell roared and tried to lunge forward at him only to have the back of his skull blown out and his gray matter sprayed across the deck. Frank put his weapon away as he dialed a number on Gosnell's phone.

"What is it Gosnell?" Frank heard the familiar voice answer the call.

"I caught him, sir. Where do you want me to bring him?" Frank asked using Gosnell's voice as he looked at the corpse in front of him.

CREATORS' THOUGHTS

A bit later than planned but here you go. After this arc with Frank is wrapped up we should be jumping into the main events of the MCU finally.

As for the next story’s MC, essentially his powers and abilities are inspired by Dragon Knights from Divinity. People with the power of dragons and are able to transform into them.

I’m also considering starting his story alongside Steve’s and throwing him directly into the shit with Bucky during WWII.

As for whether it’s the mcu or comic universe idk.
