Chapter 12: The vampire nurse; Lucinda

I woke to a touch of warm hand on my forehead, I quickly peeled my eyes open shoving away from it and pinning myself to the headboard. I was so scared that I might be getting attacked again, tears were already filling my eyes as I tried to steady my breathing. I was greeted by a warm smile from a woman sitting on the bed. She had blond hair in a bun, warm hazel eyes, blenched skin and spray of freckles around her nose and cheeks. She had a dress on, revealing a little cleavage, she looked stunning and young. I found myself staring at her, she doesn't look anything like the other's, I mean not scary.

"Don't worry, you're okay...you just need to rest some more" she said softly her voice very tender to the ears. She got off the bed and walk towards me grabbing my shoulder gently, I would have flinched away but it wasn't in a threatening matter. She blinked her eyes saying "it's ok" pushing me back down lightly, I did as she wanted sliding down onto the bed in a straight up position before she covered me back up with the white sheet. The pain in my body was basically numb now, or safe to say almost all gone. She went over to the cart standing by the bed and put in a clothe inside a bowl.

"E-excuse me?" I finally muster the courage to talk after a minute of doing her work. I was feeling a little feverish but not enough to put my mouth on locks. I had to ask where I was to begin with. She looked up from the water of bowl with a smile.

"Yes?" she said calmly before looking back down squeezing out the soaked clothe.

"Where am I?" I asked the question a bit hesitant because the last time I did that I got you know..... choked. She continued without looking or answering me. She just walked back with that same smile stopping by the bed before placing the cold clothe over my head. She pushed back a stray of hair falling in my eyes behind my ears before caressing my cheeks with the back of her hand lovingly. A huge genuine smile playing on her lips, I had only seen those on my mother's face.

"You had a striking fever for two days, in so much pain....hopefully today it's getting better, if not you would have-" she paused like it was a bad word to say, pain and fear replacing her once warm face.

She totally ignored my question but as to how I've been treated lately, it's not something new. And I totally wouldn't mind now cause she said something staggering

Two days!! I've been out for two whole days!!!

Was my health that bad? I think I need a hospital not this death hole and an oddly dressed nurse. I might have died in that stupid car if we had delayed. Her gazed was fixed to my eyes as she continued to caress my face. I saw something bigger than just being her patient in those eyes. I've heard this demonic creatures are manipulative and even mind control, I wasn't to believe what I see. They kidnapped me and killed my mother, I was basically their prisoner–That is the only relationship we'll ever share.

"You just need to stay in bed and you'll be better in no time..." she said simply like I'm her daughter suffering from a flu or bad break-up. I simply nodded too not to make my situation any worse. She took her hand away and was about to turn around when she stopped

"Oh, and It would be better if I have something to address you with other than the cursed daughter, everyone around here calls you that" she said making a face that might intended to enlighten my mood which she giggled, herself but when she realized I was just staring at her frightened she put on a straight face. It felt like I couldn't speak again, she was being too nice, the most common trait of a serial killer–I was choking on it.

Cursed daughter? Is that supposed to mean something?

I was starting to get scared again when I saw her brows arch waiting impatiently for my words to fly. It was actually extremely simple to say my name, it was monosyllabic and 3 lettered too but it somehow acted like a noose around my neck.

"It's okay let me go first, mine is Lucinda. See it's very easy to roll off your tongue. Now tell me yours....come on, don't shy" she said excited nearly jumping in her spot, she was treating me like a two year old. Actually I was scared that she might want to drop the nice act and go on with her friends' methods.

"Gia...."

"How cute!" she actually nearly squealed and then got a grip on herself "It suits you and...oh how I can be sometimes, we have much more important things-" she cut off her words her face suddenly dropping into deep fear again. I wonder what could be wrong with the woman, I was the prey here so I should be all that right now not that I was keeping it cool already.

I was freaking the fuck out! Who wouldn't be if you found yourself in a dungeon filled with blood sucking demons.

"You must be hungry" she said her cheerful tone back again, yeah I was hungry but not until she mentioned it. I was starved and perched, I cannot believe it's been days since I ate any thing. She went over to the cart again bringing with her a bowl with a spoon in it.

"Eat up" she said handing over the bowl to me, I sat up before taking it with shaking hands. Although I was so hungry I didn't know what to think, I wouldn't trust a thing handed to me by them–not especially food. I might just be eating poison and slowly waste away in that bed. I looked down at the bowl holding steaming hot soup, it looked promising–like a whole vegetables garden was dumped in a highly seasoned water and smells mouth watering too. I looked up and was met by her gaze observing me.

"It's not made out of human parts right?" I said timidly, her lips then played into a bigger grin before she laughed. I mean she laughed like I asked a stupid question, hmmm.....a vampire with humor. I guess I had my answer

I couldn't help it think that I was walking into a trap not that I wasn't in enough trouble already but I cannot dare to trust her or the others. I cannot, they forcefully dragged me here to an almost abandoned place with no sign of human life, perfect to kill and let me rot.

Escaping would be like running into the middle of hungry lions right after you nearly escaped from the hyenas, I had no idea where I could be right now–Or maybe just one. Mom wasn't all coocoo after all, she mentioned taking me to shallow falls but then diverted along the way–This doesn't make sense. I have no other choice but to tag and play along until I grasp a chance before they decided I were a burden and kill me

Yeah that's a plan–maybe

I looked back down at the bowl and used the spoon to stir the soup. It had vegetables in it which made it a bit colorful and welcoming. I took a spoon full and then immediately caught on a tangy salty taste.

"It's not" she answered packing up some of the things she used on me, some bloodied and others wet–also bloodied. I didn't even want to know what happened within those two days

"Hmmm" I said to the oddly tasting soup, I was trying so hard to figure out the taste left on my tongue. I was personally a food enthusiast so I've had a lot of food.

"Just blood" she said, I was about to take my second bite when I heard blood. That explains the colour of the soup, I quickly look down at the bowl gagging, I put it down and was telling myself it wasn't the food she was talking about. She looked back up at me from her bag realizing that I froze completely after her words staring her down.

"It made you heal faster, don't worry it's mine" she said like that would make me feel any better. I felt extremely nauseated,

why would she feed me out of her demonic blood?!. Who knows what's doing inside of me right now?

I might turn into one of them

Calm down Gia, just you breathe

I couldn't push down the gag, I placed the bowl under my chin as I continued to gag nothing came up but just the little I've had. My hunger and appetite vanished like the peace I once knew in my life.

"Blood?!" I nearly shrieked

"It's no harm" she said with a small laugh "You just take rest and finish that!" she ordered pointing down to the bowl on my lap. She exited swiftly with her bag leaving me alone with a bowl of blood soup. She seriously didn't expect me to eat that! I put the bowl down and sighed in pain. More tears flew through my burning eyes staining my cheeks.

Why is this happening?

I went under the covers again and soon enough my eyes were getting heavy, maybe I really do need that rest. I let the darkness pull me in forgetting my worries.

The cursed child!?!
