News channels were having a field day as they documented the story told by the mobs who were all either in the ICU or in stretchers.
None of them was left in good health. Everywhere people were divided into two groups, one group wanted the Blitz to pay for what he had done and called him outright brutal and deranged while the other half was singing praises in his support, this group were the people who had been pressured by the Genovese family and had suffered so they knew how much of a monster the family was.
Jack was not in the mood to go to school, but couldn't skip since his mother was home. He took all the classes and talked with his friends, though they were easily able to tell something was wrong with their friends
"You know you can talk to us, right" Peter patted Jacks shoulder and said. Jack was thankful to Peter for his care but couldn't tell him.
The school ended and Jack quickly turned into Blitz, as soon as he took to the skies, leaping from building to building, he heard the sirens as well as the comms in his earpiece
The police were chasing after him.
'Sigh, pathetic shits' cursed Jack as the sound of sirens reminded him of Yuri.
Jack turned into an alleyway and changed into Cedric.
Using a couple of spells, he was now out of the police's sight and started flying to the location of the hospital. he wanted to check up on Yuri and see if she had woken up.
The media wasn't doing its job well enough as no one knew what happened, the narrative was that Blitz went berserk and dealt with a whole crime family in one night.
'It's just half the family, I will deal with the other half tonight, I will take out every single family of the mafia in New York City ' thought Jack as he looked through the hospital window, Yuri was eating an apple as she looked at the TV screen when she suddenly looked outside. Right at Jack who was under an illusion spell.
'Huh, can she see me?'
Yuri stood up from her bed and walked towards the window as Jack started flying backwards, To Jack, it felt like Yuri had some kind of superpower and she could sense him.
"Stop, I know you are there," said Yuri
Jack held his breath, Yuri sighed as she looked at the place where Jack was previously and took out some kind of equipment from her pockets.
"I can see you through this, so how about you come down here and talk to me, why haven't you been responding to my texts, same goes for your friend Blitz" It looked like Yuri wouldn't take no for an answer.
Jack sighed as he undid his spell and landed in her room,
Yuri looked surprised as she looked at him.
"Wow, so you really were there, huh"
"....what do you mean by that" Jack had a sudden thought
"It means that I was just tricking you"
'Mother fucker' Jack could only curse, he knew he needed to be thoughtful from now on, it may have also occurred because he wasn't in the right state of mind
"But why would you open the window and suddenly start guessing, it means you had knowledge of me arriving"
"Ha! Nah, I have been doing this since this morning," Yuri said as she showed Jack the thing in her hand.
It wasn't some futuristic stuff, just a label maker.
Jack and Yuri suddenly fell into silence as they looked at each other for a moment, both had things they wanted to say, but didn't know how to say it out loud.
Jack was ridden with guilt, Yuri was injured because the mafia family wanted to get to him, she could have died if He didn't save her on time.
Yuri on the other hand was also guilt-ridden, She had come to find out about what happened, The Magia had lured her into their trap, which enabled them to lay a trap for Blitz and caused him trouble.
This wouldn't have happened if the police had done their work properly and apprehended all the criminals, everyone in the department knew that someone from the inside was responsible for the escape of many of the Genovese family bigwigs.
"I am really sorry"
"For what?" Yuri asked,already knowing what it was for
"For what happened to your friend, if I had been careful, if I had nipped the problem from the bud, you wouldn't have been injured"
"Sigh, listen to me, you aren't above the law, although I admit you are doing a good job, nobody is supposed to be above the law, you did the right thing by having me arrest those people and having them go through court to get justice," said Yuri.
"And I know both you and Blitz are good people, I respect you for your morals, though I am happy that Blitz took revenge for me, by beating up nearly a hundred men to near death. But I ask you to stop him, I dont want the people to fear you guys" Yuri finally took a breath as she said everything she wanted to say.
Even though Yuri was a supporter of the law,she was also a vengeful person,she hated every goon to the bones,
"But what about when they escape, they will go back to doing it all again,they will go back to killing again,raping and maiming and mugging people" Jack trembled with anger as he remembered the visage of a beaten up Yuri.
"Then there will be people present to stop them,people like you and Blitz and me ,and dont you for a second think it was your fault,none of that was you,it was all on me, I was too confident and got hurt, in fact, I should be thanking yo6 for saving me" Yuri consoled Jack who had his face down
"I want you to know that,I didn't come to be a cop only to hide behind someone,I have sworn to protect the people of this city, and I will do it even if it kills me" Yuri said resolutely.
"I know you have a similar goal,I am just like you" smiled Yuri as she looked at the teenage boy who could do wonders.
"Also ,remember to ask Blitz to meet me,I have something I wanna tell him, he needs some counselling as well" said Yuri as she looked at The wizard who finally had some hope in his eyes.
