Chapter 4: I pity him too

The princess was beautified with the best makeup artist in the kingdom. He made sure that she looked out of this world for her wedding.

Her eyes were darkened, and to her lips red colour was applied. Powder was applied to her face that made her skin look softer and with a faint red to her cheeks as blush.

She wore blue butterfly earrings and a diamond necklace on her neck. Her hair was braided and held in a bun at the back of her head. Her nails were painted blue with sparkling shine on it. On both her hands and legs.

The beautician went all out to make her look beautiful for her wedding day. She had gone for the white wedding gown instead of the blue and she looked so gorgeous.

The princess looked back from the mirror to the bed, her eyes caught sight of the beautiful night gown that was laid on the decorated bed.

It was a light night gown that was certain yo cover no part of her body if she were to wear it. There was only one person in the whole palace that would have brought that shameless dress to her room.

She smiled. The lavender petals on the bed were used to write the names of the bride and groom with a heart in between the names. With a little of the blue dust, the names written with the flower petal floated on top of the bed going round and round.

"Draxan," she practised his name to feel how it sounded on her lips.

Her room had been decorated for the special night. She had to admit that a part of her was a little excited about the act that a newly married couple shared together.

It was taught to her by her governess. She knew what was expected of her, how she is to initiate the whole thing. As she was female it was her duty to take charge.

But thinking of the man that she was expected to give her body to she frowned.

"Why couldn't you be one the good one's?" she asked.

She sighed getting the thoughts out of her mind. She was marrying him in order to break him and nothing more. Once that she had made him remain in line and accept his reality then maybe she could think of that.

Until then, he will is nothing more than a rebel who could cause problems to the kingdom. Weeds were best plucked off the garden early, if delayed then they can affect the whole garden and ruin everything.

The wedding was her biggest plan to get him to mend his ways and stop completing with her. She was better than him in many ways that he could never come to compare.

"How is the bride doing?" she heard. Her hand clutched the knife on her dressing table. In a blink of an eyes, she threw the knife to the source of the voice.

The girl by the door missed her attack last minute. Any minute less in her movement and she would have been dead.

"I take it you don't like the idea of getting married but what can be done?" the girl asked being dramatic. "You have fallen in love and now you must pay the punishment for it."

"Are you done?" Ariadne asked her. "I have twelve more knives and you won't be able to miss them all," she threatened to her.

"Here I thought that I was your best friend and that you loved me like a sister. It is good to know the truth," she stated and dramatically placed her hand on her chest acting hurt.

"How can I love a crazy person who sends me such a thing?" Ariadne asked pointing at the night gown on the bed.

"This is a beautiful gown, your husband won't be able to resist you when he sees you in this," the girl said confidently.

She had asked around and learnt that the night gown was really good for a newly wed woman or for anyone who wants to evoke desires in a man.

"I will not wear that and I doubt that I will ever have to show my body to the rude ignorant boy," Ariadne let out recalling how Draxan had held her hand and glared at her.

The scene at the market replayed in her mind making her angrier than she already was. Just the thought of the boy made her mood sour. She was forced to accept that she hated the boy, he needed to pay for his mistakes.

That was the only reason that she was marrying him. Her insult was not something that she could forget easily.

"What are you saying, are you mad?" she asked the princess. Ariadne shook her head to refuse her accusations. "Then are you drunk. Did you take a drip of anything alcoholic?" the girl went on to ask.

"No, that is the plan for this evening. Do tell me, would like to join me?" Ariadne asked her. "I mean it Raya," she added to her.

Raya shook her head. The princess might get married but she was never going to change her ways. She was truly going to put the poor man to hell after the wedding.

"I pity the man that you are getting married to," Raya said to her. Her words caused Ariadne to shoot her gaze at her.

"I pity him too," she added and they both broke out into laughter. They laughter their hearts out pitying Draxan for being so unfortunate to have to call her wife.

Ariadne was very beautiful and indeed many men did desire her and want to be with her but that is where all the goodness ended. Other than her beauty all else was impossible to love.

The girl was short tempered, easily annoyed. She was cunning and manipulative when the need called for it. She hated most of everything in life and had a lot of mood swings.

It was hard to predict her as she reacted according to her mood. She was impossible to handle and hence they felt sorry for Draxan as he will have to put up with her.
