Chapter 15: Chapter 14

Author's Note: sorry about not uploading for a bit, I was super busy with school and the regular updates should be back now! :)

Over the course of the next week, he continued t0 train with his strings, becoming quite proficient in creating and manipulating them. He could create them instantly, and could go on for basically forever because of the large amount of mana he had. They could cut through solid steel and he could control them however he wanted. He was thankful that no one had shown up, as it allowed him to develop further. However, that all changed when the doors of the tower slowly groaned open.

James instantly sat up, plastering on a smile and waiting for the arrival of his new guest. In walked a man he had only seen once, in a show he very much liked. This man was known only as "The Dwarf in the Flask." This was problematic, the man would 100% attack him, believing that he was superior to all life forms. There was also no doubt in his mind that he would have to go after the book. Full metal alchemist wasn't a particularly strong world though, so he would be fine. He renewed his smile and spoke, "Welcome to my Library. I am the tower master and here I hold every piece of information that has ever been written down. I can allow you to take one book, as long as you return it." His smile never went away, and the man across from him never broke eye contact. Father spoke after a period of deafening silence.

"Give me a book on how to free myself of all natural laws." James' eye twitched, the "man" was certainly ambitious. However, per the rules he had to comply. Father would never be able to figure the book out anyway, it was much too complicated for someone of his level. He handed over the book, and as expected father tried to attack a second later. "Tsk tsk, attacking someone who's giving you a gift." His arm and body were held back by strongs, seemingly coming from nowhere. James gave the most sinister smile he could, and waved. "Bye Bye, Dwarf in the flask." Then, Father was gone with wide eyes. James' smile disappeared, replaced with an annoyed look, after all, he would be leaving soon.

*Two Weeks Later*

He stood there, ready to leave. As predicted, the book hadn't been returned, and he would be leaving now. He did a last minute check, and found everything in order. Now ready to go, he called out "World Travel: FullMetal Alchemist. Location: Amestris, central city." He disappeared a second later, but instead of finding himself in a bustling metropolis, he found himself in a pure white room, facing a featureless pre white being. 'Okay, this is bad, very bad. I forgot all about Truth. Truth is not someone I can deal with at the moment, and I very much do not want to try.' he breathed in, trying to calm himself and failing to do so. The being before him chuckled, grinning with its odd teeth. "How quaint, you attempt to intrude upon this world, yet I can feel your fear. Do you not understand the implications of your travel? Nothing can be gained without giving something in return. And what you are attempting to do, requires a very high price indeed."

James swallowed, his heart beating even faster after that sinister explanation. So apparently he had to give something if he wanted to travel. Okay, not that difficult. "And what is it exactly that you want?" The grin on Truth's face got even wider, "You." His eyes widened as his body was forcefully turned around, coming face to face with a giant stone gate, one he was very familiar with. The doors opened, and shadowy hands pulled him in as he screamed. The door closed behind him, and the white space was empty once again, except for the grinning Truth.

James screamed and cried for what felt like years, his entire body and mind was being torn apart by the gate. Shadowy hands ripped at his flash as knowledge assaulted his mind. He begged for help, yet none came. It was only later, when his whole body was gone, and his mind was filled with knowledge of everything about the universe, that he left the gate. He was still crying, until he realised that his body didn't hurt anymore, infact, he didn't have a body. He was composed entirely of mana, which meant he couldn't feel pain. He tried to touch his chest, but his arm phased right through. He screamed.

The next thing he did after screaming like a little kid was focus. He tried to will his mana into creating something like a physical body. In the end he was left with a hollow shell. He didn't have organs, he couldn't feel pain, and any injuries would heal instantly. He was a being made entirely of mana. He could still touch things, thank god, but he couldn't be injured. What this also meant was that he would be especially vulnerable to any attack that hurt the soul. He also realised that he was much smarter than before. No, it wasn't that, he knew everything. He had given up two bodys in exchange for knowledge of the universe. He had a complex understanding of molecules, life, death and everything else. His new mind was sorting through this and understanding it all. He was stronger and smarter than before. When he had a body, he could destroy cars with a punch, but now he felt as if he could level a mountain.

It was incredible, and he spent a while testing his new limits. He could run faster than a bullet train, fly at incredible speeds, and destroy entire pieces of land in one go. His magic was also much stronger now as well. It had refined itself to create this body, and now every piece of magic was denser and more powerful. After hours of doing this, he remembered that he had a book to get, and began a trip to the central city. As he arrived, he sent out a mana pulse, something he could now apparently, and found that father was below the city. He entered his mana form, and phased through the street into the lair. There, he saw father hunched over a desk with the book lying on it. He slowly floated up behind him then created a string.

The string pierced Father's brain and killed him before he could even react. Jame sighed, transferring back into his physical body and picking up the book, leaving the world a second later. This time, he didn't encounter Truth, maybe killing Father was equivalent to leaving? He didn't know, and he didn't care. He was just excited to learn the true limits of this new body.
