We returned to the pack with Glover as our prisoner. The red wolf has secured the head of defence, Mr Reynolds. I had special plans for him.

We lost two apex wolves and eight wolves were injured. Judging by our odds, I knew we were lucky. Just as Alex once told me that suffering casualties were part of our job description. We couldn't always have it all. I braced myself and ordered an honourable burial for the deceased.

We knew reporting Mr Reynolds would be useless because the government was in on it. So I decided to take the laws into my hands.

He was going to witness what he made my mother witnessed ten years ago, because of his greed and lack of humanity.

I never said I was a saint. So I sent him home with two delta spirit wolves. I had them slaughter his family in his presence and bring him back to the settlement. He would work as a slave until he no longer had use anymore, then he would be killed.
