Chapter 30: Philip's Questions

Luckas woke up as he heard constant knocks on the door of his room, he felt heavy and tired, his night of sleep was horrible, he always had the habit of tossing and turning during his sleep, but the injuries in his body made him jolt awake in pain every few hours.

-" Come in, I'm awake."

The door opened and two nurses entered the room, the last one was pushing a cart, Luckas watched the nurses take out a bundle of gauze and cleaning alcohol, Luckas instantly understood what they were about to do.

He felt shame as he would need to show his body to the two nurses, after all, he was injured in almost every body part. Luckas was actually really shy and even with a good career in his past world he never took advantage of the money he made because he worked so much.

He had barely any love or sexual experience, so showing his body for two women made him feel awkward, he thanked God that the first time he was knocked out.

After the woman cleaned his injuries and made the bandages again, one of the women took the cart and left while the other cleaned his room, soon after, the lady returned with a tray with some food.

-" Excuse me, there is someone called Byrth that wants to meet with you." The lady was courteous towards Luckas.

-" Oh, You can tell him to enter." Luckas felt good, he knew that the way he was treated here was because of Cyl or Jeffrey, he didn't think that Philips would waste his time to arrange those things.

-" You sure are having a good time here, huh, maybe i will too get hurt to see if i can have the same treatment." Byrth mood looked way better today, he was even making fun of Luckas.

-" I bet that you'll have an even better treatment, you're after all Jeffrey Squire."

The two nurses were shocked as they learned that Byrth was the Squire of the Duke's son, they were already curious about the man they were tending, but seeing how casual he was as he treat Byrth their curiosity only grew.

Luckas and Byrth continued to chat, after Luckas finished his meal the two nurses collected everything and left the room.

Seeing that they were alone in the room Byrth face turned serious, he was waiting for a chance to talk to Byrth.

-" Hey, Cyl told me that Philips and Jeffrey were coming over today to ask us something." Byrth was nervous, he didn't know what the ex Duke wanted with them.

Luckas was surprised, he didn't think that Philips would come so soon, what he wanted to know must be an urgent matter.

-" Do you know when they are coming?" Luckas didn't mind the news too much, he thought that whatever Philips wanted to ask him, it wouldn't be something more important than matters of his past world.

-" Cyl didn't say a specific time, he only told me to be here this afternoon."

-" Oh, so you're going to make me company the whole morning today? That's nice of you." Byrth thought that Luckas would be more nervous about Philips's visit.

-" Do you have any idea what he wants? Maybe it's related to your background."

-" I don't think it's that, I already talked to him about it. Maybe it's about the demonic beats of yesterday?"

-" Huh? Why would he ask us about that? I don't think we would be of any help to him."

-" Who knows, and besides that what worrying about it would do?" Luckas relaxed mood puzzled Byrth.

-" Sigh, nevermind." Byrth seated on a couch and stared at the ceiling.

Luckas was about to lay down again when he suddenly remembered something.

-" Hey Byrth I need your help with something. Could you go to an Inn called The Loud Traveller and get me some things?"

-" Oh, it was there that you spend the night a few days ago? Sure, what do you want?"

-" Just get me the two books I got from Jeffrey, I need something to pass the time here."

Byrth nodded and left to get Luckas his things, he came back sometime later with the two books and food, it was about lunch and he decided to bring Luckas something too. The two ate and talked more.

It was close to late afternoon when Philips and Jeffrey came, Luckas thought that Philips would arrive from nowhere as he suddenly does, but this time he came walking. Philips's presence in the infirmary raised a commotion, but nobody dared to be to noise.

-" Apologises for the sudden visit, I wanted to talk to you after you healed a bit more, but, there is some urgent matters that I need information about." Philips was the one who took the lead while Jeffrey just stood there looking at Luckas.

He only learned about Luckas transmigration today, when Philips told him Jeffrey was shocked. He felt really lucky, he not only could recruit Byrth who supposedly awakened his primordial element, he also found a Planewalker.

Luckas and Byrth nodded and waited for Philips's question.

-" First, I want to ask Byrth about the river where you found the cultivators of the Eternal Sun Sect, was this river the White Ash River that runs through the Verdant Forest?" Philips's question made Byrth frown, but, he nodded in confirmation.

Seeing Byrth confirm the information he continued to ask him questions. " How far from your village was the area that you found them?"

-" About 1 hour and half of walking from my village, I just followed the river to the north."

-" Thank you for the answers." Philips finished asking Byrth questions and turned to Luckas, he wanted to ask him the location where he appeared after his transmigration, but Byrth presence made things complicated.

He wanted to ask Byrth to leave the room but decided that would only make him more suspicious, so he decided to go for another approach.

-" So, Luckas did you decide if you will join our family forces?" Luckas was surprised as Philips asked that, he knew that with just his transmigration Philips would want to keep eyes on him, but, this was way too sudden.

-" Huuhh, to be fair, I don't really know anyone here in this continent besides Byrth and you guys, so I don't want to leave it just that I'm not really sure that I'm gonna fit in the army."

-" Don't worry, will not join the army, but we will put you in another organization."

-" If that's the case, I could only thank you, Sir Philips."

-" Now that everything is done, I will be going. Jeffrey takes Byrth and officialize him as your Squire." Philips finished everything and left the room using a space tear.

Byrth felt strange, he didn't know why Philips would come here just to ask him about the river and his encounter with the Eternal Sun Sect cultivators or ask if Luckas would join them.

Jeffrey too was feeling awkward, but he knew that his uncle was planning something and took Byrth with him.

Luckas was about to take the Fleeting Steps of the Cloud Swallow book technique to read when the space tore once again and Philips walked out.

-" Sorry for the inconvenience, I just needed to talk alone with you." Luckas found that the Ex Duke was strange, he was one of the most powerful people in the territory, if not by noble rank, by his own cultivation level, but he still decided to stage something like this and not just directly ask for Byrth to leave the room;

-" No need for apologizes, Sir Philips."

-" The matter I want to ask you is about the place you appeared after transmigrating, did you appear close to Byrth village?"

-" Yes, about an hour away I think." Luckas thought about the questions that Philips asked Byrth and continued. " While I can't confirm that it was the same river as the Byrth mentioned, I was close to a river too, I followed its riverside and reached the village."

Philips was taken in surprise by Luckas quick thinking, the young man had already connected the dots.

-" Thank you for the answers, I will come to talk to you again after some time. If there is anything you need just ask Jeffrey." Philips thanked him and left for good this time.

Luckas wanted to ask if his transmigration was related to something in the river, but Philips left too quickly. At least now he could ask Jeffrey for a body cultivation technique too.

Luckas lay down again and began to read its book, he felt that things were finally beginning to work out.
