Chapter 30: BEST TIME TO PLAY THE GAME

The Dela Croix was at their dining table together, when Dairen was about to talk to them about his weird plan of marrying the island girl Rexana. His main reason anyway was to annoy them. However, he wasn't that fixed on his call.

He also thought that whatever he decided, it would still be easy for him to get out of. He had even managed to get out from Graceilla's family which seemed to be impossible. How much more with just a small family who only knew nothing but how to survive on a small island? Besides, Rexana had already agreed and was even excited to marry him. Then, he thought it was the best time to play the game.

He too was excited to see how his parents reacted. They messed up with him by putting him in a situation and almost got his whole life trapped by the La Ruffa. So, he thought that he was deserving to retaliate against them.

So, that night was the best time for him to do that. At their dining table and everyone is present. He glanced over the food served and wondered how those delicious foods might taste in his parent's mouths after he would announce the news to them.

"You looked like you're in your best mood. Don't you, son?" her mother asked as soon as Dairen arrived at the table.

He pulled his chair and offered them his best smile.

"Of course, I am. Something made me happy and…" Just before Daerin finished his word. His father cut it out excitedly and opened a new topic for discussion.

"That's great, and we have important things we also need to discuss with you." His father may be smiling but Daerin could actually see hesitation and anxiousness behind that smiling face. He suddenly also got an odd feeling about whatever they were about to say next and the weird feeling about the next topic could be overwhelming.

Nevertheless, Daerin kept his mouth shut and simply listened, giving them a chance to speak it out.

"We just got a call from Mr La Ruffa. He had terrible news about Graciella. It seems like she tried to commit suicide. She locked herself in her room for days and took some kind of pills or drugs. I don't know, but she doesn't look great. She was depressed," His mom narrated.

Dairen could partly guess that. This wasn't the first time Graciella doing that, it was just that his parents didn't know. Daerin is also aware of what could be Mr La Ruffa's resort as always. He would always give in to Graciella's possessiveness.

Moreover, at that moment he fathomed that whatever Graciella wanted was something related to him. If not, why would they have to tell him that? For sure, it was about trapping him in marriage again.

Daerin didn't want to hear whatever they were saying again. He may sound like listening but actually, he was blocking all the feed information. He looked down at his empty plate and filled it all with food and started devouring it.

Nevertheless, when he once thought that his news to his parents could be the reason, to change the taste of the food, it seemed like it was him who suddenly felt the food tasted bad.

"Daerin are you listening to us?" His dad called his attention and even though Daerin wanted to block his auditory ability and took his focus away from them, it wouldn't always work that way.

"Yes, I am." He wanted to roll his eyes but he tried his best not to. He hadn't made another plan for the steps that he needed to make since his retaliation plan didn't work. He had to stay at a low-key level until he found another way again.

"Yeah, as I was saying. Mr La Ruffa didn't only agree to annul all our financial obligations but also offered another resort business in one of the islands they owned. He might have figured out that you might not want to marry Graciella because you don't want a life in the city and simply wanted to stay in a place like an island and manage a resort," his dad exhibited.

"That's a pretty awesome offer," Daerin smirked because the more he got that offer the more he realized his value. With that, he got another idea of raising his prominence. They had offered him that much he knew that they could have more.

He just had to give another trigger and that was making himself unavailable from their grasp and Rexana would help him with that. That way they had to build more bridges to get him.

So, whatever he had started planning, the more he had to make a way to pursue it. However, it wasn't the best time to let his parents know about Rexana and his plan of marrying her. He didn't want them to stop him or find a way to stop his plan.

He knew so well that the La Ruffa, especially Graceilla, would do everything to get him. He was so aware of how Graceilla got what she wanted and Daerin wanted to give them a good game.

Daerin had to marry Rexana as soon as possible. With a thought of that a trace of a sly smile painted on Daerin's face just as the taste of the food started to change into something good.

Daerin pushed the chair and stood up. He must not waste another time and had to do his work.

"Daerin, you didn't say anything. Don't you wanna visit Graceilla in the hospital and tell her that you want to marry her?" His mom asked.

"I will probably do that. But, for now, I have more important things to do." He turned and scurried away out of the dining room.
