Chapter 19: Chapter 19 - The Shrine of the Gods and Goddesses

Valdez entered the room, and at that moment, the room emitted blue lights.

"Come here," Valdez said as he looked at Alex who he knew as Abigail.

Without hesitation, Alex entered the room. As soon as Alex entered the room, a barrier dome appeared and covered them.

"Where do you want to go?" Eva asked.

"We want to go to the Shrine of the Gods and Goddesses," Valdez said.

As soon as Valdez said that, suddenly the room around them distorted and slowly turned into another room.

The room looked quite dirty with dust and cobwebs on the ceiling. Alex looked around as if he doubted whether their destination was correct.

"Is this the right place? If I heard right, Valdez said the Shrine of the Gods and Goddesses earlier," Alex thought.

Suddenly a lot of information entered Alex's head and tells about the Shrine of the Gods and Goddesses along with its history.

The Shrine of the Gods and Goddesses, just like the name, this shrine is a place devoted to worshiping the Gods and Goddesses.

This shrine was made in every country in the world as a form of remembrance for the war between Gods and Goddesses that occurred thousands of years ago.

The war itself was the second biggest event after the war that occurred between the inhabitants of the upper world and the inhabitants of the underworld.

In that war, the Gods and Goddesses are divided into three factions.

The first faction is the faction of the Gods and Goddesses who want their world to be a bridge of peace for the inhabitants from the upper world and the inhabitants of the underworld, just like what the Seven Absolute Sovereigns want.

However, even though they want to make their world a bridge of peace for the inhabitants from the upper world and the inhabitants of the underworld, they themselves even bring a lot of strict regulations that are too binding for the inhabitants of the middle world.

Hence, the second faction appeared. They are a faction of the Gods and Goddesses who want the inhabitants of the middle world to have their own freedom to develop instead of being binding tightly like slaves.

Therefore, the two factions began their war because of their fundamental ideological differences about what they should do to the inhabitants of the middle world.

Meanwhile, there are a few Gods and Goddesses who chose not to interfere in the matter by being neutral.

The war unleashed a great deal of bloodshed between the two factions and brought the total of Gods and Goddesses decreased from 873 to 431.

Because of that, the Seven Absolute Sovereigns descended directly to the middle world for the second time to solve the problem by annihilating the two factions of the Gods and Goddesses who instigated the war.

The Seven Absolute Sovereigns only keep the Gods and Goddesses who chose to remain neutral and not interfere in the matter to be alive.

Out of a sense of shared destiny, those Gods and Goddesses forged a life-and-death contract with each other so that such an incident would not happen again.

Since then, those Gods and Goddesses told their followers to build a shrine to worship them collectively or individually.

"Ah, so it's like that," Alex thought.

"Abigail? Are you okay? Why are you daydreaming? Are you still feeling nauseous?" Valdez asked Alex who he knew as Abigail as he held her hands.

"I'm fine," Alex said. "Now, please take me to the Shrine of the Goddess of Beauty."

Without saying anything, Valdez escorted Alex to the Shrine of the Goddess of Beauty.

From the room they were in, they passed through a straight hallway. On their right and left, there were several separate halls that looked very magnificent with different designs in them.

"You should already know that these halls are shrines that are meant to be used as a place to individually worship the existing Gods or Goddesses," Valdez said as he looked at Alex who he knew as Abigail.

Not long after they walked, they finally stopped at a hall that seemed to only have pink and purple within it.

"You have to come in by yourself because I am not a worshiper of the Goddess of Beauty so I am not allowed to enter this Shrine," Valdez said.

Hearing Valdez's words, Alex without hesitation entered the hall, leaving Valdez who could still see him from afar.

When Alex entered the hall, he felt an ominous atmosphere as if he was being watched by someone other than Valdez.

Alex tried to look around and he could only find some beautiful carvings with some holy verses carved on the walls.

Alex tried to look down and he could only see the shiny pink ceramic reflecting on him that had the appearance of Abigail.

Alex kept walking until finally, he was in the middle of the hall where at that moment, a pink mist appeared and slowly covered him within it.

"This is the first time I've had a visitor who isn't my worshiper in a long time," a woman's voice echoed within Alex's mind. "Tell me what do you want?"

After hearing that voice, Alex's consciousness was slowly fading away and a bright light was emitted from him.

"What do I want?" Alex thought.

"Split my body and soul into two bodies," Alex said before he completely lost consciousness.

"Heh... how interesting, suddenly coming to my shrine and asking something complicated, I'm getting a bit interested in you," a woman's voice echoed within Alex's mind again.

Suddenly the light that came out of Alex's body became even brighter until it covered his entire body.

In a few moments, the light began to dim and there were two bodies lying in the middle of the Shrine of the Goddess of Beauty.
