Chapter 10: Getting Permit
Conan tried to refuse but it seemed to have not worked, from where Dave was standing he could see that both of them were forced to kneel as the nobles sitting in the carriage came out. A young teenage girl around the age of 15 or 16, and two younger boys around the age of 9 or 10.
They had brown hair and were wearing luxurious clothing which looked very outdated as per Dave. They talked about something with their Knight and then one of the boys came in front of Conan and asked him something. After Conan answered, the noble kid became angry and kicked him in the face.
" I think we should stop them," Dave spoke, Max turned to look at him but he knew that nothing can be done.
Conan was their leader if he can't handle the situation then none of them can. Max shook his head telling him to not interfere however Dave didn't accept his request and walked toward them.
When he got near them, he could hear the little kid swearing at Conan. The kid wasn't afraid of anything as he kicked a man much stronger than him.
" Stop there who are you?" One of the knights who saw Dave approaching stopped him. Everyone's attention shifted toward him as Dave got closer.
" I am the person they are escorting," Dave answered.
" Max, I told you to stay there with Mr. Jin," Conan spoke to Max who was following behind.
" Get up Conan, we are going to return to the Guild. I will pay you the amount we had decided for this mission." Dave spoke.
" Mr. Jin, that's..." Conan had a surprised reaction as he looked at Dave. " But we were told that you had to reach the branch office as soon as possible. It would be wrong to not escort you and break the agreement like that."
" Hey You, Filthy Commoner, how dare you do not greet me first? Kneel right now." The young boy shouted.
" What if I don't?" Dave shouted back,
" Kill this rude, lowlife!" He ordered his knights and so one of them took out his sword to attack Dave.
However, The sword attack was stopped in the middle by the invisible barrier around Dave. After that Dave took out a knife and Quickly pulled the young boy towards himself inside the barrier. He was angry, he just came to talk and the guy ordered a death warrant for him.
After grabbing the boy he puts the knife over the young boy's neck, it took several seconds for everyone to process what just happened.
" Should I kill you?" Dave spoke coldly, The Knights tried to jump and attack him but were stopped by an invisible barrier.
The young boy on the other hand was frozen because of fear.
" Sister, help me..." He spoke weakly.
" You know you should have not angered me. Do you think everyone is the same? you ordered your Knights to kill me, without thinking how would I react..."
" Let him go!" The knights started to shout from outside of the barrier. Some even tried to attack the barrier but it wasn't affected at all.
' The barrier is stronger than I thought, or maybe these people are just weak compared to that Assassin.' Dave thought.
" My father will kill your entire family!" The young boy regained some of his confidence after seeing that so many people were trying to protect him.
" I don't have a family, Let's die together" Dave spoke as he slightly cut his cheek.
" Aaaargh!" The boy screamed as Dave scratched him and when Dave showed him the blood on the knife the Boy started to scream even more, " Blood! I am bleeding! Mommy! Daddy! Sister!... Save me!"
" Stupid boy!" Dave was done with his petty revenge after seeing the young boy was so afraid. He kicked the boy and threw him out of the barrier. All he did was just make a scratch and it looked like the kid was going to die. He hated people who were so afraid of death yet didn't care about the life of other people.
" If you don't let us pass through then I am sure one of you is dying today. You don't want me to do that to you, right?"
Everyone watched Dave with wide eyes, the noble kids were shaking with fear while the knights had tense looks on their faces. Some of them have even used their skills to break the barrier but the barrier was too strong and also invisible.
Some of the Guards at the gate also came after seeing the commotion.
" Arrest him!" A knight ordered the guards, " He tried to kill a noble!"
The guards tried to attack but they too were stopped by the invisible barrier. None of them were able to break through, Dave once again walked towards the arrogant kid.
" No this time, I need you," He said as he pointed toward the youngest. The boy couldn't handle the fear and fainted then and there. The knights were standing in between them.
" Let them leave, give them permission." The Arrogant boy shouted.
" But my lord–" One of the Knights spoke but stopped.
" Let's go, Conan," Dave told his escort. The three escorts followed him quietly.
" I am not returning to the capital after this." Upon reaching the carriage Max spoke as he sat inside the carriage. " This place is filled with this kind of people only."
Conan also sat down inside the carriage.
" Roy, let's go full speed!" Conan ordered and Roy agreed as he made the horses run fast.
Nobody stopped them, Dave looked out of the window at the three young nobles who were traumatized.
' Did I go too far?' He regretted treating kids like this, back on earth he would have never done anything like that.
' I think there is something wrong with me,' Dave was not happy about how he dealt with the problem.
" Mr. Jin, I am sure we will not face another problem like that on our way further," Conan spoke.
" I also hope that we safely reach Luxor." Dave sighed as he wasn't so sure about that.
