Chapter 22: Worth It?
" Skill Activate [ Strong Body]"
Conan once again activated his skill once the time limit of White's skill ran out.
Dave slowly approached White by killing anyone who tried to get in his way. It was becoming more and more difficult as he felt that his body was not moving as he wished. Just like in the characters would lag within the game.
The Kid from above was providing support to both Conan and Dave. Lasers came out of his fingers and damaged whatever they touched if only his aim was any better. But he can't be blamed since his hands were shaking from being nervous.
Roy's arrows were the most effective attacks against him, but they lacked power. White was unable to dodge them but continued to block them with his rapier, after Conan recovered Max ran toward Dave to protect him.
It didn't take long for him to reach Dave...
" Here Drink this!" He said as he handed a blue color potion to him. Dave didn't know what it was supposed to be but trusted Max enough to not use Appraisal on this.
After drinking the potion he felt that he regained heat in his body which had mostly become numb.
" I will take you to a safe place, please follow me," Max spoke.
Dave didn't reply but he refused to move...However, he had to move when he saw that some of the terrorists fired arrows. He blocked them for Max, these arrows were not strong enough to get past the invisible shield.
" There is no need for you to fight! Boss can handle it," Max spoke, every time he looked at Dave he couldn't help but be horrified by the state he was in. The clothes on his body were mostly drenched in fresh warm blood, that was still coming out of his wounds.
" Even the Vitality potion wasn't helpful," Max spoke, " We will need a priest to heal you, otherwise you will die."
" No~, I have to kill him..." Dave spoke but staggered and fell to the ground, finally no longer able to move.

" You ruined my fun! You need to die..." White shouted as he went to attack forward but once again Roy's arrow came in front of him which he needed to block, but he sensed that Conan was ready to swing his axes.
He jumped back avoiding both attacks, the arrow followed him but he simply deflected it with his rapier.
' This is troublesome!' He thought in his mind and then looked around himself.
Because of his skill, he was able to somewhat see the invisible shield. The children he was supposed to kill were still alive and only a few useless pawn-grade agents were alive. He then saw Dave lying on the ground and showing no sign of movement.
' I can't sense whether he is alive or not. Is that because of that barrier as well?' He thought while at the same time he avoided the attack from Conan like it was nothing.
" This has become meaningless," White spoke. He could try to break that invisible shield that protected the children but he was dealing with a strong opponent right now.
He also saw that some of the guards who had been kept as captives has returned. They were wielding their weapons and engaged in combat with the few remaining agents. White created a distance between himself and Conan and jumped over a roof.
" This is the end of today's play." He spoke as he jumped from the other side of the building. It was clear to them what he was trying to do, the man was trying to escape.
Conan didn't chase after him, he was sure of thier victory against White but also didn't want to fight that guy at the same time. He walked towards Dave as he put away his axes once again on his back.
" Is he okay?" Conan asked.
" No, He will die if not healed soon," Max answered.
Conan reverted to his original form and also lay on the ground because of the exhaustion from his skill. His eyes saw a black sky filled with smoke, which showed how much damage those terrorists have caused this town.
" Can we not save him? I don't think there is anyone who can heal him?" Conan spoke, " There is no temple or priest here in this town."
" I will go look for a doctor..." Max said as he left Conan lying on the ground.
' As if any doctor would be able to save him?' He thought as he looked at Dave's condition..., " You are crazy,"
From outside the town, they were able to witness the devastation that was caused by the fire. Although at first, he didn't want to get involved, they thought that they would at least check what is happening in the town. After a mutual agreement, they entered the town just to have a look and return but then they saw the crosses of those terrorists lying on every corner. They even reached the security office where they found many people imprisoned, they told him who came to save them.
Later they also found traces of a big fight and found a corpse that was brutally slammed into the ground. Conan never expected that Dave would be so powerful, he never felt that Dave was so strong.
In the end, they even reached the government office after following the trails of the dead bodies.
Once they finally reached it, they saw Dave being stabbed from a distance. At first, they didn't plan to intervene but seeing Dave still trying to fight back despite having bled so much. The fight was becoming more and more intense and it was less likely that Dave would survive but still, he tried to protect the children.
Seeing that Conan was the first one to move, Roy and Max automatically got a hint. That led to their current situation where they were.
' What kind of quest did we take this time?'
