On the 7th floor of a highrise parking lot, a man and a woman sat in two oak chairs, backing each other. They were both wearing black suits, and the man had a black pistol in his hand.
The parking lot was empty except for an old Volkswagen in the parking space next to them. And above them, the ceiling light flickered occasionally as the night dragged on. Then the man broke the silence and said, "Do you know why I brought you here?"
"No," the woman replied, staring at her reflection in the car.
"Remember the terrorist attack on the Russian embassy in 1812? We played a key role in that attack. However, one of the fatalities in the bombing was the daughter of a well-known criminal, whose name is Michael Turnner."
The woman raised her head, signaling that she knew the man. "What's the girl's name?" she replied.
"Ashley Turnner. Her father has threatened to kill anyone involved, and that includes the crown. However, the crown doesn't want the truth behind that attack coming to light."
"I see."
"We have to protect the crown, Sharolet." The man armed his pistol. Which caused her to prick up, then the man continued, "We made an oath to protect the queen and her husband. You understand, right?"
"Yes." She answered, her voice slightly shaking. However, as soon as she replied, the man turned around and shot her in the head two times.
"Pap! Pap!"
Blood splattered on the car, and her lifeless body fell to the ground. A blood pool formed around her head, and her eyes closed. The man looked at her, tears coming from his eyes and the gun shaking profusely in his hand, then he swiftly put the gun to his head.
His mouth was trembling from overwhelming guilt and sadness. And then he pulled the trigger and blew his brains out.
Present day.
A young man in a black gardine jacket and a slightly green suit entered what seemed to be a 20th-century office. He approached a man strapped to a chair and another guy standing next to him.
They're both facing the office desk in front of them and are unaware of the young man. Until he rested his hand on the shoulder of the man strapped to the chair and said, "Doctor Keenly I know you might be a little confused, but I assure you this will only take a minute."
The surprised doctor jumped and licked the blood from his bruised mouth. There was dry blood coming from his nose, and his right eye was swelling. "What do you want?" he muttered in pain.
"47 years ago, you were involved in a surgery. Where you implanted a chip into the head of a certain girl. You were offered a large sum of money to do it by a man named Lowbeer Lomotomy."
"Yes, I remember that."
"Good, I would like to know that girl's name."
"I can't. I took an oath."
"And now you're going to break it."
"I won't tell you, you're just going to have to kill me."
"Fine." The young man took a silver revolver out of his jacket and spun the cylinder, saying, "I like to leave things up to fate sometimes. There's one bullet in this gun. If fate wants you dead, then the bullet will discharge."
"You're sick."
"No, I just want the name of that woman." Then he pointed the gun at the man and pulled the trigger; however, the bullet was not in the slot, so he said, "Looks like you got lucky keenly, but I don't know if you'll fear so well the next time."
"Listen if I tell you they'll kill Jorleen."
"I don't care about your wife." The man answered as he spun the cylinder again, "All I want to know is the girl's name.'' Then he pointed the gun at the man and pulled the trigger.
The doctor pricked up, but the gun didn't discharge. His body was shivering, and he swallowed his saliva.
That's when the young man laughed, "Third times the charm." And spun the revolver once again: "You know all you have to do is tell me the girl's name."
The doctor didn't answer, so the man held the gun to his head and continued, "Your choice."
But before he could pull the trigger, the doctor said, "Wait! If I tell you, will you protect Jorleen?"
"Why would I do that?"
"Please, I know you're going to kill me; it's my only wish before I die."
"Fine, tell me the girl's name, and I'll protect Jorleen."
"Her name's Amelia Benson."
"As I thought," the young man replied, then he looked at the man who had been standing there the whole time and said, "Buchae, kill him and dispose of the body, I'll be on my way."
Then he walked out of the room and made his way down a hallway. Seconds later, he exited a mansion and strolled down a long pathway made from stone slabs. It was lined with a low, green hedge on both sides that went straight to the gate.
When he exited through the gate. There was a yellow taxi waiting for him, so he approached it, opened the door, and got in. The taxi driver noticed him and said, "Where to?"
"The Cornerstone Agency, I would prefer it if you avoided the traffic."
"Got it."
Then the car drove off. A few minutes later, he arrived in front of the big building. It had Cornerstone Agency written in big letters on its front. The young man got out and paid the taxi driver, then made his way into the building.
It was almost empty. To his right and left were seats for people to sit, and there were two elevators to the back of the lobby, one on the right and another on the left. Then he noticed the front desk and approached it, saying, "Good afternoon. I'm Michael Turnner, and I would like to speak to the Department Chief, Noria Sanchez."
The receptionist stopped typing on her computer and glanced up at him, "Do you have an appointment?" she asked.
"No, I do not."
"Do you have an ID?"
"Yes."
Turnner pulled an ID out of his pocket and handed it to her. She took it and entered some of its information into her computer. While typing, something on the ID caught her attention. She squinted and said, "I know us humans are immortal, but being this old is near impossible."
"What do you mean?"
"It says here you spawned on August 5th, 1210."
"Oh, that's right, there was an issue with the print. I'll get it fixed soon."
The woman looked at him with suspicion but ignored the strange birth date and replied, "You should."
"Would I be able to speak to the chief right away?" Turnner asked.
"Yes, you will. I'm just putting your name into the database to bring up your credentials."
"I see," Turnner answered, then he walked away from the front desk and stopped a short distance from it. While looking outside, he removed his Gardine jacket and the green suit he was wearing beneath it, then knelt down and took off his watch. Some people in the lobby noticed his strange behaviour.
He then rested his gardine jacket and suit next to him and put his watch on the top of the suit. Afterwards, he remained there with his hands on his head and continued to stare out the door.
Finally, the information about Turnner appeared on the woman's computer screen.
Michael Turnner ,
US national
Ex Contractor
Wanted!
Arrest on Sight
Immediately, the woman slammed a red button on her desk. And the sounds of sirens started going off throughout the lobby. The people who were there looked around frantically in fear. The two guards at the front door suddenly pulled out their pistols and pointed them at Turnner, and they approached him slowly.
Subsequently, about 15 men in black suits exited the two elevators. They walked towards Turnner, who was in the middle of the lobby, and they enclosed him in a circle. Furthermore, they drew their swords and axes from their backs and pointed them at him. Turnner, however, remained firm as the sirens blared in the background.
