Chapter 168: Almost
"It seems the gang's all here." Law smirked as they looked at the newcomer that approaches them. Luffy widened his eyes.
"Oh!! Lucci!!!" Luffy waved at Lucci who nodded back while tipping his hat at him. Lucci had his crew of ex CP9 agents behind him.
"Hello again, captain." Lucci greeted, making the Supernovas look at Lucci in shock. Bonney pointed at Lucci and Luffy.
"Wait! Wait! Wait what?! You're a subordinate?!" Bonney shouted at Lucci who raised a brow at her, wondering why would anyone be shocked about it.
"And your captain is that crazy bastard?!" Bonney pointed at Luffy who grinned at her. Bonney went up to Luffy.
"How the hell did you recruit him?!" Bonney demanded answers. Luffy shrugged.
" It's a long story. Pretty boring if you ask me. Why the shocked faces guys? Lucci and his crew just started being pirates under our command. " Luffy asked them all. Law chuckled and smirked at Luffy.
" Mugiwara-ya, it seems you don't keep track of your subordinates' astonishing progress. What a bad captain you are. " Law taunted him. Luffy pouted and crossed his arms.
"Quiy beating around the bush um.... What's your name?" Luffy asked him.
"Trafalgar Law." Law introduced himself with a smirk on his face. Luffy grinned. Trafalgar sounds pretty hard to pronounce, so he'll give him a nickname instead.
"Quickly beating around the bush and get to the point, Tora-o!" Luffy shouted at him. Law had a tick mark on his forehead while he was twitching his left eye in annoyance.
"What the fuck did you just call me?" Law asked him.
"Get to the point, Tora-o! I'm a patient man, but I'm not that patient!!" Luffy dodged the question. Law groaned and palmed his face.
"How the hell is someone like you even worth 650 million Belly? Ugh, fine I'll tell you. " Law grumbled and looked at Lucci.
" Leopard-ya over there massacred a pirate crew and a lot of Marines who were fighting on some island he and his crew visited. That pirate has the combined bounty amounted to over 600 million Belly." Law then looked at Luffy seriously.
" Here's the best part. Coincidentally, there were two Vice Admirals fighting there too. Once he killed all the pirates, the Marines then started firing at them. They all died by Leopard-ya's hand a couple of minutes later. " Law continued.
" That incident gave Leopard-ya a bounty of 300 million Belly and his vice captain Giraffe-ya a 160 million Belly bounty. It also gave Bubble-ya a bounty of 90 million Belly. " Law revealed. Luffy grinned at Lucci.
" Lucci! Why didn't you tell me?! We could've met up and party! " Luffy asked him. Lucci crossed his arms.
" We promised to meet in Sabaody, remember? I figured I would just tell you about it then. " Lucci explained. Luffy looked at Law.
" Thanks for telling me, Tora-o! You look and sound like a cool dude! Wanna be friends?" Luffy asked him. Law blinked at Luffy.
Kid who was listening from the sidelines laughed loudly while palming his face. Killer who was standing beside his captain also laughed with him.
"Oi, Eustass-ya. What the hell is so funny huh?" Law asked while giving Kid the finger. Kid raised a brow at him.
"Huh?! You wanna fight?! I'm down to beat your ass up, Tora-o!" Kid taunted him with a large grin on his face. Law narrowed his eyes at Kid and stood up. They stared at each other.
"At least I'm not petty enough to kill civilians to raise my bounty, Eustass-ya. " Law mocked him. Kid gritted his teeth.
" Oh now you've done it, 200 mil!! " Kid and Law glared at each other as the atmosphere became tense in an instant. Law raised his hand, preparing to use the ability of the Devil Fruit he ate.
He ate the Ope Ope no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit granting the ability to create a spherical forcefield in which the user can freely alter the orientation, movements, and configuration/anatomy of anything and anyone (themselves included) in a 'surgical' fashion, making him a Free Modification Human.
The Ope Ope no Mi allows its user to manipulate and 'remodel' the world around them as if by operating on it.
By conjuring a blue-transparent, spherical forcefield of sorts that is centered around the user (dubbed "ROOM" by Law), they gain control over everything inside that territory, from living beings including themselves to nonliving objects.
"I'm a Free Modification Human, Eustass-ya. As long as you're within my circle, consider yourself a patient on the operating table." Law warned. Kid grinned maniacally at him.
" You can't do that if you're already dead!! " Kid shouted back as metallic objects around the vicinity started gathering around him due to his Devil Fruit ability.
It enabled him to generate magnetic fields that can either attract or repel metallic objects to and from his body as he pleases.
By using repulsion, he can deflect metal projectiles back to where they came from, turning them against the aggressor.
Using attraction, he can strip opponents of their weapons and bring them to their own body, rendering said opponents helpless.
He can also accumulate a large amount of metallic objects around his body and form them into specific shapes, he can then move these masses around very fluidly, either by being directly connected to him or not.
Kid started attracting various metal pieces to one of his arms in order to form a massive, makeshift arm.
Suddenly, the two Supernovas froze as they felt an extremely dominating pressure wash over their bodies.
Law and Kid looked at Luffy who was the one that put them in this condition. The captain of the Straw Hat Pirates was using Haoshoku Haki.
They were intimidated by his gaze and his look. "Bastard, you have Conqueror's Haki?!" Kid growled angrily. Law couldn't process what was happening right now. Everyone looked at Luffy with an expression of disbelief.
"Stop fighting, Tora-o, Jaggy. There's a Tenryūbito heading our way." Luffy scolded them.
He referred to Kid by the nickname Jaggy because he was referencing Kid's spiky hair.
That snapped Law and Kid out of what they were going to do. The two huffed and crossed their arms childishly.
Hearing that, all of the Supernovas and their crews sat aside and waited for the Tenryūbito to pass by so that they could resume what they were originally doing.
"Mmmh..... Shalria and father....They left me behind. Where on earth could they have gone to?"
Everyone looked at the Tenryūbito eating ice cream while was sitting on his slave who was crawling on the ground. He is Saint Charlos, the son of Saint Rosward and the older brother of Saint Shalria.
Charlos has the same hairstyle as his father and sister. He has a wide, obese face and what appears to be stubble around his thick-lipped mouth. He always has snot hanging from one of his nostrils, which he regularly picks at.
As a Celestial Dragon, he wears the typical full-body, thick white suit of obese frame that resembles a spacesuit with medals or buttons on it, with a green collar, and a resin bubble that grants him a supply of oxygen separate from the ones commoners breathe.
"We know their ultimate destination, so there's no need to worry." Charlos' male assistant assured him. Charlos looked down at the slave carrying him while crawling on the ground. The Tenryūbito kicked the slave in the head.
" You! It's all because you walk slower than a tortoise!! And you sway as well, which makes this most uncomfortable!! You irritate me!!! " Charlos yelled angrily at the slave.
"Kaya, Usopp, Sanji! Grab those guys away! They're moving! He's gonna notice them, I'm sure of it!" Luffy ordered her while pointing at two doctors and a nurse.
The doctors were carrying a heavily injured person via a stretcher while the nurse was by the person's side.
Kaya and Usopp acted immediately and used Soru to quickly appear beside the three people. Usopp grabbed the two doctors and the nurse with his hands while Sanji and Kaya both grabbed the stretcher.
They reappeared in an alleyway. Kaya and Chopper then started treating the injured person lying on the stretcher.
"Wait, where's Zoro?" Nami asked out loud.
"He said he wanted to get some booze." Usopp answered while arriving beside Luffy's side.
"Oh?" Bege hummed as he looked at Zoro who was walking towards the Tenryūbito with a beer bottle in hand.
He stopped in front of Charlos and looked at the Tenryūbito. "Impossible!" Charlos shouted in disbelief. He expected absolute obedience shown from him. Anyone that crosses his path is expected to bow and give way for him.
"What's with you? Do you want directions or something?" Zoro asked him while looking at Charlos with a bored expression. The civilians were horrified at his words.
"How dare you!!" Charlos shouted and raised his golden pistol at Zoro. He fired a bullet at Zoro to which he sidestepped it casually.
He then unsheathed Shusui and appeared beside Charlos in a flash. He grinned devilishly as he swung towards him.
Zoro grunted as he was suddenly tackled by Bonney who was younger. "Isn't this that Bonney woman?! Why did she become a kid all of a sudden?!" Zoro growled out as he landed on the ground. Bonney quickly sprayed some tomato juice on Zoro's forehead to make it look like he was dead.
"WAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! Big sister!! Why are you dead?! You went up against Tenryūbito-sama!! Then of course you were going to die!! WAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! " Bonney fake cried while Zoro lied still, understanding what she was trying to do.
"Did I hit her? I got the feeling she dodged it in an instant.... I must have imagined it. Well, if he's dead, then no matter. " Charlos, his slave and his assistant left the scene quietly. Zoro sat up straight after everything returned back to normal. Bonney returned to what she originally looked and glared angrily at Zoro.
"Why did you get in my way?" Zoro grumbled as Luffy handed him a napkin to wipe off the tomato juice smeared on his forehead.
"Don't talk to me like that, you ingrate!! What the hell are you trying to pull huh?! Were you trying to get an Admiral dispatched to this island?! You'd be screwing your fellow pirates over and all! " Bonney yelled angrily at him. Zoro ignored her shouting and was pulled up by Luffy.
"Did your mother drop you when you were a baby or something?!" Bonney shouted as Zoro looked into her eyes.
"I know what I was about to do. I don't like the way he looks and I don't like the way he acts. One Tenryūbito dead would make the world a better place. " Zoro muttered darkly at her. Bonney stepped back, feeling intimidated by Zoro's gaze.
"Hey Zoro." Luffy called her. Zoro hummed and looked at him. Luffy grinned broadly at him.
"Go faster next time." Luffy requested. Zoro smirked back and they fist bumped each other.
"I knew they were all insane, but this is truly something else." Bege muttered stoically while smoking a cigar.
"He's a real beast. And he certainly doesn't look like the type to serve under another. That speaks volumes about his captain. " Urouge commented with a grin on his face. The rest didn't know what to say. Lucci and his crew had smirks on their faces while looking at Luffy and Zoro.
Things returned back to normal as the Supernovas all gathered around each other once again.
"Pereperepereperepere..."
Luffy took out his Den Den Mushi and answered the call. "Hello, future Pirate King speaking." Luffy greeted the person on the other side of the call. The caller was Hatchan and he said next made the Straw Hats' blood run cold.
" Mugiwara!! It's Camie!! Camie's been kidnapped!!!"
