Chapter 108: Chapter [108]

Riser smiled upon seeing Merlin and Kuroka in the living room of his mansion in Kuoh. Koneko and Yoruichi stood by his side, still recovering from the teleportation.

Koneko was surprised to see Kuroka in Riser's mansion living room. Her eyes widened with disbelief as she watched her sister approach. Before she could react, Kuroka got up from the couch and ran to Koneko, enveloping her in a tight hug.

"Koneko, my little sister, Nya! I missed you so much!" exclaimed Kuroka, her voice brimming with emotion as she hugged Koneko tightly.

Koneko was paralyzed by Kuroka's sudden hug, her mind struggling to process the rapid turn of events. She felt a familiar and comforting warmth spread through her chest as she hugged Kuroka back, losing herself in the comfort of the moment.

Riser watched the scene with an affectionate smile on his lips, happy to see the two sisters reunited after being separated for so long. He sat on the couch alone, giving them space to reconnect.

Meanwhile, Yoruichi sat on the couch next to Merlin, her expression calm and observant as she watched the scene with interest. She exchanged a meaningful glance with Merlin, silently sharing their satisfaction in seeing Koneko and Kuroka's happiness.

Merlin smiled at Yoruichi, a glint of amusement in her eyes as she watched the interaction between the two sisters.

"Kuroka, let me go," demanded Koneko, her voice sounding firm despite the torrent of emotions swirling within her.

Kuroka released Koneko with a mischievous smile on her lips, her eyes sparkling with a mixture of joy and mischief. "You've always been so mean, Koneko. Not even a welcome hug for me, Nya?"

Koneko furrowed her brow, her expression filled with suspicion as she stared at Kuroka. "Why are you here, Kuroka? And why did Riser-sama bring me to you?"

Riser intervened in the conversation, his voice calm and patient as he explained the situation. "Kuroka can explain better in person, Koneko. She has valid reasons for being here."

Kuroka looked at Riser with gratitude before turning to Koneko, her eyes conveying a mixture of regret and determination. "I killed my former master to protect you, Koneko. I couldn't let the other devils harm you, Nya."

Koneko arched an eyebrow, clearly skeptical of Kuroka's claim. "You're lying, Kuroka. I know you had an outbreak when using the Senjutsu power."

Riser intervened again, his voice firm and assertive as he corroborated Kuroka's story. "Kuroka is telling the truth, Koneko. She did what was necessary to protect you. We should trust her."

Kuroka looked at Koneko with eyes full of sadness and regret. "I'm sorry for abandoning you, Koneko. But I did it to protect you. I couldn't risk the other devils hurting you, Nya."

Koneko felt tears beginning to well up in her eyes, a mixture of emotions overflowing in her chest. "What exactly was your master planning to do with me?"

Kuroka hesitated for a moment, gathering courage to reveal the truth to Koneko. "My former master, he... He wanted to conduct experiments on you, Koneko. He saw you as an opportunity to test the limits of Nekoshou's power, Nya."

Koneko felt a wave of relief wash over her chest upon hearing Kuroka's words. Despite everything, her sister wasn't a cold-blooded killer as she feared. She looked at Kuroka with gratitude in her eyes.

"So you're not a cold-blooded killer," she murmured, a shy smile forming on her lips. "But is the Senjutsu safe? Won't it drive you mad like other Nekoshou?"

"Senjutsu is safe, Koneko. It doesn't drive Nekoshou mad like many think, Nya," explained Kuroka, hoping to dispel any concerns Koneko might have. "I swear."

Koneko sighed in relief, feeling a weight lifted off her shoulders. She looked at Riser for confirmation, eager for an opinion.

"Koneko, Kuroka is right. Senjutsu is safe, and she's fine. We need to trust her."

Koneko considered Riser's words for a moment, pondering the truth behind his claims. "Everyone should know the truth," she stated firmly.

"Unfortunately, Koneko, even if we have concrete evidence, Kuroka would still be sentenced to death," explained Riser.

Kuroka nodded, agreeing with Riser's words. "He's right, Koneko. That's why we should keep this between us, Nya," she said, her voice soft and comforting.

Koneko lowered her head, sadness weighing heavily on her heart at the inevitability of the situation. She knew that, as much as she wanted to share the truth with the world, the consequences would be devastating for her sister.

"I just wish everyone knew the truth," she murmured, her voice laden with sadness. "It's so unfair that Kuroka has to bear this burden alone."

Riser approached Koneko, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Koneko, sometimes the truth isn't the best path," he explained, his voice gentle and calm. "Sometimes, it's better to let things be."

Koneko lowered her eyes, contemplating Riser's words. She knew he was right, but still struggled with the idea of keeping such important secrets.

"But, Riser-sama, what if Rias-sempai finds out?" she questioned, her voice filled with concern. "She trusts me, and I don't want to hide anything from her."

Riser sighed, understanding Koneko's anguish. He stepped back a bit, looking at her seriously.

"Koneko, even if Rias trusts you, it's better if she doesn't know," he explained, his expression serious. "The fewer people know, the lower the risk of something going wrong."

Koneko considered Riser's words for a moment, battling with her own conscience. She knew Riser was right, but still felt uncomfortable with the idea of hiding such an important thing from her king.

"But Rias-sempai would never tell anyone," she said, her voice soft but firm. "She's always helped me when I needed it, and I don't want to hide anything from her."

"I understand, Koneko," he said, his voice gentle. "But sometimes we need to protect those we love, even if it means keeping secrets."

Kuroka approached Koneko, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Riser is right, Koneko," she said, her voice soft and comforting. "I don't want to be separated from you again. It's better if we keep this between us."

Koneko looked at Kuroka, seeing the concern in her older sister's eyes. She knew Kuroka was willing to do anything to protect her.

"You're right, Kuroka," she murmured, a sigh escaping her lips. "I promise I won't tell anyone."

Riser smiled, satisfied with Koneko's decision. "That's how it has to be, Koneko," he said, his voice firm. "The fewer people know, the better."

Koneko nodded, feeling a weight lifted off her shoulders. She knew it would be difficult to keep this secret, but she was willing to do whatever it took to protect her sister.
