Chapter 30: Serenity
Death... An end for all living creatures in the world.
I used to think that death was a path to find freedom. But now I consider death as a way to start a new beginning.
It seems funny to me that this cruel world teaches me that death is not an end.
The previous world where I came from was a boring world. This is just my opinion, the opinion of a person who has never experienced happiness in his life.
A world full of lies, a world full of evil, a world full of suffering. That was my view of the world I used to live in.
But in this other world, it's the same as my previous world. But now I have the ability to repeat any mistakes and this ability has the potential to change my destiny.
I thought this was my chance. Even since the first time I came to this world, I thought I could start my new life here without thinking about the world I used to live in.
But the reality is that I realized I was wrong in my thinking. Even though the world I am in now has changed, it doesn't change who I am.
Nothing has changed about me, I am still me, my name is still Ray Lewinston. I only realized this after making several mistakes.
No... I realized it from the beginning, I just hoped that I could truly change.
Even though I have moved to another world, it won't change the past that I have gone through. A past that has no meaning and also makes me realize that the world is only a place for someone great, not a place for people like me.
Of course, I have thought that I could be one of those great people. But in reality, there are only paths full of failure waiting for me in the future.
Is failure a part of the journey to success? Do you think all forms of failure can still be repeated?
What if a doctor in a hospital fails to save a patient's life? Can that failure be repeated and eventually save the patient?
In the end, not all failures can be repeated to achieve success.
And because of that, I now realize that I am still trapped in the memories of the past.
For a long time, Ray was trapped in a room he created in his mind. Asking himself some questions and answering those questions to himself.
Until he finally realized that he shouldn't just stay still like this.
Why did I choose to rest at a time like this? This is not the time to relax!
With that thought, Ray tried to push himself to open his eyes.
Slowly, Ray opened his eyes and found himself lying on a comfortable sofa.
Ray recognized the sofa very well because he felt it was the sofa he often used to laze around while watching TV or playing mobile games at home.
Realizing that there was something strange about his current situation, he got up from his sleep and looked around the room. Ray found modern household furniture that made him not believe that this was another world. The TV was right in front of the sofa he was sitting on, making him more convinced that he was not in another world.
He heard the sound of metal rubbing against each other in a room. Making Ray curious, he approached the room. Ray found someone cooking while humming.
He saw an adult woman with white hair that reminded him of his sister who also had the same hair color.
The woman turned to Ray, making Ray able to clearly see her face. But for some reason, Ray couldn't see or understand the shape of the woman's face. He could only see the woman's mouth smiling at him now.
It wasn't fear or curiosity that emerged in Ray's heart now. It was a feeling of happiness that arose from seeing that smile. Without any reason that Ray could understand, he was happy because he could see the woman's smile.
Strangely, he wasn't confused by the situation. Because Ray knew what caused him to feel happy at the moment. It's just that Ray was confused about the reason why he felt happy seeing that smile.
The woman approached Ray slowly and bowed in front of Ray. Making Ray wonder why the woman did that. But when paying closer attention, the woman's face was at the same level as Ray's face and it made Ray confused about that.
Ray finally looked at his own body and realized that he had become very small, like he was still 4 years old. He also realized that all this time he had been carrying a very large book that burdened his small body.
Ray was puzzled by what was happening now. When he looked back at his surroundings, he found himself running and laughing. He was having fun running in the park with the woman whose face he couldn't see. The feeling of happiness was very real for Ray, making him even more confused about what was actually happening now.
After running around for a while, Ray took shelter under a big banyan tree in the middle of the park. Some people there were also using the tree for shade, just like Ray.
Ray rolled around in the cool grass beneath him, feeling refreshed and slightly ticklish on his skin. He looked up at the beautiful blue sky right in front of him now. He contemplated everything that had happened a while ago and finally realized that he was currently in a dream world.
Realizing that made the smile on Ray's face fade away. He looked at his body again and found that his body had returned to normal as before. Complete with his school uniform that he hadn't changed at all during this time.
Knowing that he was in a dream world, he now wanted to feel peace for a moment. He finally decided to lie down and gaze at the beautiful blue sky.
After lying down for a few minutes and feeling the peace in his heart, he suddenly remembered that he was not alone at the moment. Making him get up from the shady place and look around.
Ray found the woman again, the woman who was playing with him a while ago. But this time the woman was not alone. The woman was now accompanied by a man whose face could not be seen either.
They were being affectionate with each other and feeding each other. looks like they are having a picnic. It was clear that they were a couple who were very harmonious and in love.
Seeing that made Ray's heart feel an unbearable sadness. He didn't even know the reason why he felt sad like that.
Suddenly, Ray woke up from his long dream. As he opened his eyes, he saw the wooden roof of a house he didn't know.
Ray realized that his cheeks were wet and immediately touched his face. He instantly realized that the reason for his wet cheeks was because he had been crying.
Tears continued to flow from his eyes. He also felt a sadness that he couldn't even understand why he felt that way. Making Ray confused about his current situation.
What happened?
What kind of dream is that?
Who is that woman?
Why do I feel sad?
Why... am I crying?
Ray looked around and realized that he was still lying down. He got up from his bed and looked around while sitting.
Ray found a sliding door that needed to be opened. He slid the door and found a beautiful house yard filled with plants, some of which Ray didn't know. It made Ray realize that he had woken up from his strange dream.
Ray wandered around the wooden house and realized that the house was very big and also tight. It seemed that the house was surrounded by wooden fences that were over 3 meters high. Making the house look like the home of a wealthy person.
The beautiful plants around the house also made Ray realize that the owner of this house had a hobby of taking care of plants.
The more Ray explored the place, the more beautiful things he saw. There were several fish ponds with various types of fish in the area. There was also a cherry blossom tree that was currently blooming, showing its beautiful pink leaves. There were several other beautiful trees, and even bamboo was there. All of these things made the environment around there very peaceful, cool, serene, and also made Ray's heart feel calm.
In the middle of the way, Ray found a white rabbit sitting in a spot. He observed the rabbit because it would be enjoyable to see the cute animal. However, the rabbit didn't move for quite some time, which made Ray curious.
Ray approached the rabbit closer. When he was about to touch it, the rabbit still didn't move. When he touched it, he realized that the rabbit had a very hard texture on its skin and body. Making Ray wonder what kind of rabbit he was holding.
Ray kept stroking the rabbit continuously. But the longer he observed the rabbit, the more he became aware of his vision. He slowly realized that what he had been stroking was just an ordinary stone.
Hallucination... This... What happened to me?
Suddenly, someone called Ray's name from a distance. When Ray turned around, he found a girl he didn't recognize. But the uniform she was wearing made him realize that she was one of his classmates.
"Ray... Come here..."
The girl waved her hand and shouted to Ray.
There was no reason for Ray to refuse the girl's request. Especially since he was confused about the current situation. The current situation was not what he wanted.
Hoping to get answers to the strange situation that was happening, Ray walked towards the place where the girl was calling him.
