Chapter 7: 7: Do you want this water?
"P-Princess Yunjin, I-I…"
The nanny seemed to be at a loss for words about what to say as an excuse to the princess in front of her.
Sui could not see the princess, but she still felt the air getting heavy around her. It made her throat drier, and Sui could feel the pain in her throat.
"Nanny, do you have any last wish before I take care of you?"
The princess asked in a scared voice. The sudden change made Sui nervous, and a sound escaped her throat when she did not want it to.
As a result, the princess and the nanny turned to look at her.
'You idiot! Why did you have to attract the princess's attention to yourself like this? It is bad enough that I must deal with the nanny, and now the princess will also get angry at me.'
Sui had messed up, but she needed to say something.
The silence would kill her, so Sui forced her mouth open and her throat to produce some words.
"P-Princess, I- *cough*"
Sui's voice was dry, and the itching in her throat made her cough.
'Shit! It feels like thorns are pricking my throat. Water! I need water-'
Sui wanted to ask for water, but her fear held her back.
The intensity of the princess's gaze made her feel worthless, and whatever strength Sui had in her body left.
"Nanny, what is wrong with my bunny? She looks ready to die. Did her wound get infected?"
The princess asked as she neared Sui.
The sudden pressure from the princess's threat caused the nanny to pale and start looking around.
"Princess, that is not what-"
The nanny looked flustered as she tried to tell the princess it was not her fault.
Sui's head was spinning, and her throat felt parched.
'Water! I need water, or I will die.'
Sui's hands moved independently, and her heartbeat echoed in her head.
Fragile hands grabbed the princess's robes, and Sui tugged at them to gain the princess's attention.
"W-Water, please."
Sui begged while clutching her throat.
She must have looked pathetic because even the princess stopped what she was doing and turned toward her with a clenched fist.
"Nanny, I will punish you later for your mistakes. Go and call for a doctor."
Even when the princess ordered this, her voice was cold and unwavering.
Those cold eyes made breathing hard for Sui, and she gagged as she tried to get air past her dry lips.
Despite her fear and feelings, Sui knew this was her only chance to beg for what she needed.
"P-Please! Water!"
'Water! I need water!'
If Sui could have yelled, she would have.
But the only thing she could do now was tug at the princess's clothes while looking toward the water.
What she was begging for was clear, and the princess seemed to have realized it.
"Are you thirsty, little rabbit? Are you trying to reach for water? I can give it to you."
The princess looked amused as she watched Sui reach for the small water jug on the table.
Sui tried to act fast, but the princess was faster and held the jar so far above her head that it was impossible for Sui even to see.
"G-Give it here."
Sui tried to reach for the water jug, but the princess immediately pulled it over her head and out of her grasp again.
'You are a bastard. Why would you show me hope, only to take it away the next second? If I cannot get the water, I will take the next best thing.'
Usually, a servant of the Imperial Harem needed to have trimmed and maintained nails, but Sui did not have the luxury or the means to get such nails.
Her nails were sharp and dug into the arm, holding the jug up and away from her.
'I-I will get that water at all costs-'
Sui reached up, but her strength failed her, and her body sagged against the taller, stronger one in front of her.
The princess frowned as her playmate collapsed against her body.
"Princess! Is everything alright? The maid said that you needed my assistance."
The room door slammed open just as the princess decided to move Sui from her body.
Both the doctor and the nanny stood still at the door, looking at the princess's bleeding arm and the small servant leaning against her chest.
"Ah, you both are finally here! Doctor, check up on her right now."
The princess ordered, but the nanny was faster than the doctor.
"Princess! You are bleeding! Hurry, we need to treat her right now. Doctor, quickly. Princess, how did you get hurt? Is that blood on this servant's nails? How dare she-"
The nanny jumped from worried to angry in one second and back to worried the next.
Meanwhile, the doctor was still frozen in shock as he watched the princess cradling the body leaning against her.
He was even sure the princess had not realized someone was leaning against her.
Nor did the princess seem to mind her injury.
"Ah, you are right! I did not even realize my bunny could make me bleed. Never mind that. Doctor, hurry up and take care of her now."
The princess's orders were finally, and there was no way to overturn them.
So, the doctor quickly entered the room and looked at the servant's condition.
As per protocol, he should not even be looking at someone else while the Imperial Princess was bleeding all over, but Princess Yunjin did not look to be in the mood to let him work.
"Princess, shall I treat you first-nevermind, I will finish my assigned work and then bandage your wound."
The doctor chicken halfway through asking the question and got to work.
The nanny's glare promised the doctor eternal suffering and pain if he ignored the princess's wound, but the doctor was more concerned about his life.
If he ignored the princess, then he was sure that he would die a painful death regardless.
'I need to save my life first. I will deal with the nanny later.'
